Raji, end result counts. Because of his excellent last over, KKR won the match. That turned the tables and kept the SRH in shock!
Taking wickets in the first few overs will definitely contribute to the end result, but controlling your nerves and bowling the death overs while curtailing the runs' flow, will fetch the much-needed result, that is why, they are calling it as MOTM/ POTM.
Madhu I have no issues with choosing a PoTM as long as the process is consistent through out the tournament. Are they giving PoTM for holding the nerves or overall performance or for a century or a hat-trick? It was so random.
Had they been consistent, they should have also given PoTM award to Ishant Sharma in the match between DC and GT. He held his nerve, took the dangerous looking Tewatia's wicket and gave only 6 runs in the 20th over and made his team win the by 5 runs. He could have gotten two wickets had his teammate not dropped Rashid. Or Aman for making 51 runs while 4 of the top order batsmen got out for less than 20 runs within the power play. No one thought they will survive for 20 overs, but they did. They both held their nerves too. But organisers gave it to Shami for taking 4 wickets for 7 runs in 3 overs in the powerplay. His heroics did not fetch his team a win, but Ishant's and Aman's did.
So, you see some times it is Power play, some times it is death overs, some times it is from the winning team and sometimes it is from the losing team. Sorry I am not convinced with the process.
Cheers..
