The messaging of this show is so confused, the writers have no clue what to do either with the characters or the plot they have unleashed. My biggest problem is Deepika Sinha and her actions. I cringe watching her (especially now with Nikhil) and listening to her mouthing all of those moralistic dialogues. The plot has sidelined all the interns and created such absolutely stupid, immature relationships between them! Do people actually act this way? I have two young sons who have responsible, healthy, and long term relationships with their partners. Probably, the makers did not anticipate that their viewers would include intelligent people, especially women. And what are they doing with Vikrant? It seems they have put him into a cauldron and churned him to an extent that he has come out a confused mess, with not an iota of coherence. Has he now committed suicide? The writers have so degraded him that probably it’s a good thing to annihilate him completely and give him peace. And now, his lady love Dr. Deepika Sinha can marry the new man without guilt! I was hoping that the makers would give meaning to Vikrant’s life by getting him to adopt a girl child who could become his Pari. Instead, where have they landed him? Sad closure. When Deepika entered into a relationship with him, she knew he was married, that he was trying to have a child, that he was an opioid addict, and was emotionally unstable and vulnerable. And she walked away from the relationship just like that, when Vikrant was negotiating divorce with his wife. I am not able to watch the show anymore, just catch the conversations here and the pre caps. A messy sad ending to a show whose first ten episodes were top class.
Beautifully articulated post! Summarizing all the pain points of this show.
This show is an example of excellent idea which was poorly executed. I believe the makers were too ambitious on the matters they wanted to address in a finite series due to which most of their characters look confused and bipolar.
The funny thing is in their hope to give out a particular message, they are totally conveying the opposite (which is one of the biggest failures of storytelling).
1) They wanted to show real, today's problems faced by youngsters - but what we are seeing is nothing but shallow, splitsville romance!
2) They wanted to pay homage to the most noble profession and the challenges which come along - they are ridiculing it by showing an unrealistic, understaffed hospital, juniors replacing seniors in surgeries, seniors brainstorming with patients, an inapt surgeon performing surgery, etc. This show wasn't one highlighting the dark side of the medical system but the way its executed these days, it looks like a spoof on the medical fraternity.
3) Lastly, lets address the elephant in the room: Deepika Sinha. I have said this ample times that one can't sell bullshit in the name of woman empowerment. Being a woman, its personally shameful and unfair to the ones who have genuine equality issues. But since we are talking about opposing messaging, the main intent of the makers was to address inequality in workplace, how its harder for women and to create empathy and pride for their journeys. They have done just the opposite, watching this show one feels that women have it easy, they can break protocols and still stick around as some man will fight for you (professionally and personally). The show expects you to "feel" for Deepika but I think most of us feel NOTHING for her today! On the contrary, the show has given us two strong MLs: Abhay and Vikrant....whatever your emotion and opinion about these two, you CONNECT with them and that's an ingredient of a strong character for me...they are flawed, earnest, selfish, great at their job, victims of the patriarchy system, heartbroken and heartbreakers but most importantly REAL...the journey i expected from the FL is what i got from the 2 MLs of the show..how ironic!
