Chapter 15.
Aditi helped the Sharmas pack before they left for Delhi. Her parents' car was ready to leave. She was loading her own car when Shaurya called her. She turned to him and greeted.
'All set to go?', he asked. She replied affirmative.
'By the way Ms Shekhawat...it was nice to know you liked my performance so much...'.
Aditi looked at him confused. 'I am sorry?'
'I heard your conversation with Mr Mehra this morning...', Shaurya said with crinkling eyes, struggling to keep a straight face.
'What?..' Aditi looked confused then slowly her expression changed as understanding dawned on her. She looked at him mortified. Her eyes fluttered not knowing where to look. Her face went red when Shaurya burst out laughing.
'There's no need to laugh...I only did that to put him off...', she said slightly annoyed waiting for him to stop. He looks almost handsome laughing...she thought irritated at herself.
Finally Shaurya controlled his laughter.
'On a serious note Ms Shekhawat, there was one more person in audience...your father', he told her.
Aditi's head whirled to him in horror.
Just then her parents came out. 'We are leaving Adu. You will be staying the next week, right?', her mum asked.
'No Ma..I have to go back. I'll have some backlog at work and need to spend more time...', she replied as she turned to her father.
'Dad...'
But Ranveer Shekhawat was already walking towards his car.

Karuna was in car waiting for Shaurya when she heard him laugh. She turned her head in surprise to see Shaurya standing with Aditi, laughing his heart out. He hadn't laughed like that in ages.
On the way home, she watched Shaurya. He looked relaxed, his eyes looked calm.

Aditi reached and unpacked. She called home to talk to her father but he was busy. She knew he was angry. She needed to sort it out soon.
On Monday morning, Shaurya got a call from his laywer informing that ACP Aditi Shekhawat had dropped the charges against him. He sat back smiling and dialled Aditi.
'Ms Shekhawat, thank you so much. I would like to invite you for lunch at my restaurent.'
'I am sorry Mr Khanna, I can't do it this week....too much to do', was Aditi's reply.
Shaurya disconnected the call and thought.

Aditi was starving when she reached home. She showered quickly. Mausi got the dinner ready on the table and was about to leave for the day when the bell rang. Mausi opened the door to reveal Shaurya Khanna. She gave him a suspicious look and turned to Aditi.
'Mausi, this is Mr Shaurya Khanna', introduced Aditi, 'a...friend', she added as an afterthought. Her eyes met his.
'I have made food enough for one person only...', Mausi said looking at her accusingly.
'Oh..he is not here for dinner...', Aditi started when Shaurya interrupted.
'But I am here for dinner, Ms Shekhawat'.
Aditi looked at him surprised when he showed a parcel. 'I have got food with me'.
Mausi left giving them weird looks as Aditi let Shaurya in.
They set the food on the table and Aditi inhaled appreciatively. The food smelt tantalizing.
She picked up each dish and inhaled deeply.
'What are you doing Ms Shekhawat?'
'This food smells delicious..this one's got hints of cinnamon...', she picked another bowl..'this has oregano with basil... I can also smell nutmeg somewhere...', she looked delighted.
Shaurya watched her in surprise. 'Do you cook Ms Shekhawat?'
'No...', she replied, 'I don't cook...I mean I can't cook...I mean I don't know how to cook', she seemed annoyed. Why was she blabbering?
They started eating.
'Umm...this food is delicious, Mr Khanna', Aditi said between mouthfulls.
'These are my wife's recipies', Shaurya told her with pride.
'She must be an amazing cook Mr Khanna..'
'Yes, she was an amazing cook...', Shaurya's eyes went glassy. 'I cheated her once for these recipies.'
Aditi looked at him surprised. She of course knew everything. She felt awkward.
'How are Vicki and Nehal?', she asked changing the subject.
'Good...there's a pooja tomorrow at home. Would you be able to join?'
Aditi was surprised at the sudden invitation. 'I can't do weekdays Mr Khanna.'
He nodded. He'll have to sort something out...he thought.
They ate and chatted companionably before Aditi started looking sleepy.
'How are your nightmares, Ms Shekhawat?', he asked.
She didn't answer for a moment. Their eyes met.
'They are getting less intence..I am able to get some rest', she said.
'That's good..', he looked relieved.
He gave her a recipe of turmeric milk for peaceful sleep before he left.
