1st I thought no one can be dumb like us Indians but now seeing many in US protesting against lockdown even after so many people dying I think someone is more than than us. Indians too are not less but at least they are not protesting against lockdown.
Hello ..
USA has it's own problem..there people have different requirement ..u need to check out himalaya post where she posted why USA don't want a
Lockdown
In US,
https://www.sccgov.org/sites/covid19/Pages/press-release-04-21-20-early.aspx
^^ Earliest known COVID19 deaths in the US likely in February in Santa Clara County.
Before WA's early deaths -- but no surprise.
To be clear, I should say earliest confirmed death. Quite likely there are earlier deaths too that we don't know about.

How can it rise so much till 15th May that also just in 1 state? Hope nothing like this happens. These news scaring people more than corona. Don't want India to go in Phase 3😭.
Well india is the second highest populated country in the world. The lockdown in the country started on 25th March and the first case of the virus was found on 30th January. The decision of the lockdown was really late by that time the virus might have already spread considering the fact that the person who is infected wouldn't be knowing that he/she is infected as the symptoms occur only after a week of catching the virus meanwhile in that one week that person might have gone to alot of places. Airport the first place itself where people might get infected as the employees are the first people interacting with the passengers. This is how it has spread across the globe. Employees working in the airports were at high risk of catching the virus, hotel staffs where the tourists stay. The places where the tourists have been t. Not forgetting the indians who were stranded from China and went back to their home in india after recovering even if they were fully recovered nobody can guarantee that they will not be infected again as per the new research where the recovered where getting infected again. Let keep all these aside. The lockdown decisions across the globe was taken very late. Also not forgetting that 1 person can infect at least 10. As the place where I am living an employee didn't follow the 14 day quarantine period after coming back from vacation due to who 17 people were infected.
Singapore Synthesis ! - What went wrong ?

^^After reading that article I'm more worried about India. It's possible that the disease is very wildly spread in India already and there is no way to contain it. And the govt is in denial by keeping the testing numbers low. That said, if it's widely spread then the number of deaths should have also gone up exponentially but that's not the case. What are we missing here?
Though, Its hard to figure out.
But I am a bit optimistic about this since its been 5 weeks of lock down and we have not see the number of deaths that occur when the infection is widely present.
Unfortunately on the flip side, just like Singapore this may flare up in India once we open up since not many were infected when we closed hence not many have any immunity.
If only good testing was available, we can do random sampling of 15-20 million to get an idea of how prevalent this is in the population.
1) It's possible that the death rate is lower than expected, especially among a young population
2) The heat/humidity kills the virus, especially in areas like slums where A/Cs are rare
3) India does not have that many old age homes, and seniors are mostly at home.
4) The virus has (fortunately) not reached old age homes, where it can be lethal
5) Some undercounting, especially when some people may not show ARDS.
If the virus is widely spread, then it may also be less lethal, which is good.
I guess, the lockdown is probably holding the spread and the deaths low. I shudder to think the infection spreading like a wildfire like that one case did in Singapore.

If only good testing was available, we can do random sampling of 15-20 million to get an idea of how prevalent this is in the population.
However,You don't need to sample anything like 15-20 million. The problem is that a false positive rate of even 2-3% means that a low prevalence (like 1-2%) can be hard to detect -- it doesn't matter if you test the entire population.
I'm coming around to the theory that the virus might be more infectious but less deadly than we think. But there are still some puzzlers -- Dharavi testing hasn't shown any many positives as I'd expect (unless they only tested a few people -- known contacts).
Note that there don't seem to be that many serious cases in Singapore in this cluster (hardly any).
I would guess all positives will go for further testing to remove false positives.
Singapore migrant workers maybe younger hence low serious cases.
Good thing is,...In Bangalore - there was proposal to open IT/BT offices, with 33% employees and several other conditions ( like disinfection , social distancing, their own transportation etc) from Apr 20. But now its postponed till May 3rd.
At least in Delhi, if someone is positive, they take them to hospital, I think. They also have a quarantine camp, but I think that's for contacts of positives. And for those who came from abroad, they put them in camp or asked them to stay at home (at this point, there should be very few of those). And they have hotels booked for medical staff that deal with COVID patients.
They also seal off entire lanes and mark them as hotspots, not allowing any movement at all.
Honestly, it seems a little heavy handed -- almost Wuhan level.
Tell ya da truth,Its a very difficult scene in India. GOI is sort of stuck in a Sophie's choice situation. I had booked an apartment back in 2011, and after a long wait finally got interiors done - just before renting it out covid hit. No big deal for me, but the carpenter who did the interiors is in a very bad shape - i paid him extra money. But he isnt going to feel good asking for money every month. Paid maids few months of full advance salary and some additional amount. I called the old vendors to see how they were doing. the chair vendor whom we had used earlier to get all furnitures done (while in startup) -is literally in tears. I got him connected with bunch of office folks who are in need of chair (wfh) but he now has challenges in delivering it now - post ugadi lockdown got tightened even more stringently Same situation with the computer vendor - even his past bills are not getting paid. got approval to buy monitors from for personal use for the team (wfh) but the vendor cant deliver now - apparently vehicle will get confiscated :-( Amidst all these, utmost respect for the health care workers - cant imagine the risk the doctors and staff there must be taking (though they have some temperature checking device at entry to atleast identify the symptomatic)
Also, a bit of reading tells us that false positive (for RT PCR is rare) as its specificity is extremely high. While one can be falsely negative (have virus and test negative), opposite is very rare, hence the worry. Positive does not automatically mean patient will be shedding virus and infecting others but that virus is active in body. There are other explanations and possible impacts of those but no one really knows when it is a novel virus.
As to Chicken pox and shingles wrong comparison. While chicken pox in childhood manifests with predominantly skin lesions, the virus then stays dormant in peripheral nerves of the patient ( there fore can't infect others ) for decades and gets reactivated when pts own immune system gets subdued due to other diseases etc.
Covid positive and asymptomatic is lethal like typhoid Mary. That makes these people human mule/carrier of this virus to other humans without them showing any symptoms of the disease that could be fatal to other people. Very dangerous situation for humanity. This will change the life of all.

DELHI CM best ......A big ,bigger ,the biggest question mark ..
The person who told on national tv not to worry they are able to help even if there will be 40000 patients in delhi when there were only 300 ...where were his efforts to stop its spread ..
Live near his fav community areas ,you will see the reality and then the miserablility on the faces of other communities people when they see that fav communitu is enjoying and we are in like prison
According to aajtak reports shweta and rohit were the presenters ,they showed the numbers of beds ventilators and icu for patients in every state ..
Delhities will be glad to know we were at the least ..
There are 2803 beds ,387 icu and 270 ventilators in delhi for patients ..
Hope so u have seen the video of a girl who had to put msg on social media to ask delhi government to take proper care of her father ..
I don't know how to put videos through phone otherwise I would have posted all the videos about the reality
Do tell me about your area and work done by cm there ...
Things are very bad here in Maharashtra too. The cases are highest in the country. But they have at least arranged for meals for the daily wagers. There are not many people on the roads exuding that one day accumulation on the day of announcement of second lockdown
I just hope we are able to get through this phase.
They have started with standard random sampling now. ArogyaSetu app is the first step toward that but our population is so high, that we can not do the testing of a good percentage of people
Rest I am as unsure as you
