Kalank had a drop in collections on its second day of around 50% as it collected in the 10-10.50 crore nett. The two day business of the film is around 31 crore nett apprx. The drop is more than it should have been but it has been seen in the past that films have big drops coming of a holiday release on Wednesday but then go back up over the next few days.
The last film where that happened was Gold (2018) which had an even bigger drop as it was coming of a national holiday but managed to rescue itself and do decent business in the final run. The drop here is less but and more importantly the numbers are higher as Gold collected 7.65 crore nett on day two which was a normal working day like it was for Kalank.
The drop is probably 15% more than it should be but its more about the trajectory from here for the film. There is a part holiday on Friday which should push collections and then its about following through with a jump on Sunday. The drop ensures that the film will not be a big grosser as its unlikely the collections can go back to day one level on Sunday but it can still put decent numbers depending on what happens over the next three days.
