Says Kritika Kamra as she talks about her role in Reporters, the show's TRP and her co-stars
Anil Merani
Kritika Kamra is not at all upset with the low numbers of her Sony show Reporters "Not all shows are meant for TRP, we know how things are, it is fine. We always knew this news room based love story is not your normal family drama, I am hoping that over time we pick up steam or maybe it will become cult thing later as it has happened with few other shows."One big refreshing change which Kritika has found with Rose Audio Video production is that everything is proceeding according to script. No last minute changes are being incorporated to meet TRP pressures. Also if you see the characterisation, we have kept them as natural as possible, like not all guys will turn negative if dumped in love. Also Kabir's ex wife who has just entered is being showed as a normal professional woman and not a typical television vamp. When asked has she ever been in love with her senior, she says, "no but shooting did make me realise how tricky it can be in a cut throat professional set up. You need to be clinical in your approach yet keep the relationship going. Like Kabir (Rajeev Khandelwal) blasted my character in front of the whole office for losing an important clip."
Regarding her equation with co-star Rajeev Khandelwal she says, "Given his perceived introvert kind of person nature, it took us some time to break the ice, but now we are cool. We joke around a lot, food comes from his kitchen and we have met his beautiful wife as well. He is a very sweet gentleman." Reporters which began as a limited series (130 episodes) has just about crossed the half way mark." I am really happy with the way the story is opening now, with the romance and the power equation game going on in the office eg. Arab Goswami being made head of ET Now. Rest assured we will eventually close down with a logical high. You will not feel shortchanged as a viewer." Looking ahead she says she is open to anything good be it films or TV. "I don't like this word comeback cause I have created a certain niche for myself in television, which I can always tap." Although Kritika has done lots of nonfiction (Jhalak and Zara Nachke Dikha etc) , she prefers acting over anything else. Having said that if I do take part in a reality show I will give it my best to win. I will not get uncomfortable with the extra elements as they are part of game which I will sign up to."
