A large joint family lives in an isolated homestead. The difficult setting makes the fantasy of infidelity all the more thrilling in this Marathi lāvaṇī.

Song: Mukkāmālā Rhāvā

Singer: Asha Bhosle

Movie: Zhālā Mahāra Paṇḍharīnātha (1970)

Actors: Nargisbanu Chikhlikar, Barchibahaddar, Jaishankar Danve

Lyricist: Gajanan Digambar Madgulkar

Music: Sudhir Phadke

Lyrics

Māgha māsa paḍalī thaṇḍī, pati māzhe gele gāvā

Mukkāmālā rhāvā pāvhaṇaṃ, mukkāmālā rhāvā

Māgha month's cold; my husband's gone to town

Stay the night, my guest, stay the night

Mazala phāra paḍalī tumhāṃ, zarā osarīlā ṭekā

Garama tāpavite haṇḍā, hāta-pāya thoḍe śekā

Limboṇīlā bāndhā ghoḍā, çārā-pāṇī tyālā dāvā

Travel's worn you out; lean on the porch a while

I'll heat up the brass pot; warm your hands and feet a bit

Tie your horse to the lemon tree; show him fodder and water

Dūra vāvarācī vastī, gāva lāmba tikaḍaṃ rāhī

Tinhī sāṃza ṭaḷunī gelī, yeta zāta kuṇī nāhī

Cāra ghāsa mājhyā hātaçe ūna ūna tumhī jevā

The farm camp's far, and town's way over there

Evening twilight is past now, no one comes or goes

Eat a few hot, hot bites cooked by my hands!

Sakāḷīça nhāle hote, azūna kesa ole ole

Āvatanyāvāçūna tumaçe pāya kase dārī āle

Ursa baghāyāsī gelyā Sāsubāī naṇandā zāvā

I bathed only in the morning; even now my hair's wet, wet

Without invitation, how luck brought your feet to my door

Mother-in-law, husband's sisters, sisters-in-law went to watch the parade

How has this theme reached thirty songs without recognizing the ultimate fickle seducer of married women - Kṛṣṇa?

Song: Çālalī Gharogharī Nindā

Singer: Asha Bhosle

Movie: Zāṃvaī Māzhā Bhalā (1962)

Actors: Madhu Apte, Jaishankar Danve

Lyricist: Gajanan Digambar Madgulkar

Music: Prabhakar Jog

The dance can be seen in the movie at the 43:25 mark:

Lyrics

Gavhale saḍatā

Dhānya nivaḍatā

Śevāyā vaḷatā

Āyā-bāyā karitī kuzabuza veḷa zarā miḷatā

Çālalī gharogharī nindā

Fermenting wheat-strings

Picking over grain

Rolling vermicelli

Matrons and ladies whisper at the slightest opportunity

Censure perambulates from home to home

Avaghaḍa zhāle malā nāndaṇe Devā Go-vindā

Married life has become tough for me, Lord Cow-finder

Tiṭhyātiṭhyāṃvara

Pānavaṭhāvara

Boṭa ṭhevitī jana varamāvara

Para-duḥkhāvara ḍāga deunī luṭitī ānandā

At crossroad after crossroad

At the water reservoir

People stick fingers on my sore

Marking stains on another's grief, they loot joy

Naṇanda chaḷite, chaḷite sāsū

Rātraṃ-dina yā nayanī āsū

Çaṭāvale mana tarīhī soḍīnā prītīcyā chandā

Husband's sister torments, mother-in-law torments

Night and day, tears in these eyes

After a taste, my mind yet won't leave love's habit

Āpta bitharale, patī durāve

Kaḷe na kāhī kāya karāve

Tū Ghana-nīḷā hosī mokaḷā piūnī makarandā

Friends have bolted, my husband grows distant

I can't discern at all what I should do

You, Cloud-blue, become detached after drinking honey

In Bhāgavatapurāṇa, Uddhava overhears this Saṃskṛta song addressed by a cattlewoman to a honeybee that she imagines to be a messenger from the equally flighty Kṛṣṇa.

Song: Bhramaragīta

Singer: Krishna Chandra Shastri

Lyricist: Anonymous

I couldn't find a rendition with a livelier tune, monotony-relieving expression, and perfect pronunciation; at least this one observes the rhythm of the Mālinī metre almost throughout. (This link works if you join the Saṃskṛta Text Discussion Forum through the link in my signature.)

Lyrics

Vahatu Madhu-patis tan māninīnāṃ prasādaṃ

Yadu-sadasi viḍambyaṃ yasya dūtas tvam īdṛk

Honeybee! Cheater's brother! Don't touch our foot

With vermilion whiskers from a garland crushed on a rival's breasts

The Madhu lord in the Yadu house, whose such messenger you are

Can keep that ridiculous peace offering to proud women

Sakṛd adhara-sudhāṃ svāṃ mohinīṃ pāyayitvā

Sumanasa iva sadyas tatyaje'smān bhavādṛk

Paricarati kathaṃ tat-pāda-padmaṃ tu Padmā hy

Api bata hṛta-cetā Uttama-śloka-jalpaiḥ

Once letting us drink his lower lip's bewitching nectar

He, being like you, sir, suddenly abandoned us like flowers

How does Splendour yet serve his foot-lotus? Indeed!

Her mind too must be stolen by the Best-Praised's idle talk

Vijaya-sakha-sakhīnāṃ gīyatāṃ tat-prasaṅgaḥ

Kṣapita-kuca-rujas te kalpayant'īṣṭam iṣṭāḥ

Six-legs! What are you singing repeatedly here, before us

Home-wreckers, about the Yadus' overlord? It's old news

That story may be sung to Vijaya's friend's favoured girlfriends

Their breast-ache subdued, they will arrange your favourites

Divi bhuvi ca rasāyāṃ kāḥ striyas tad-durāpāḥ

Caraṇa-raja upāste yasya Bhūtir vayaṃ kā

Api ca kṛpaṇa-pakṣe hy Uttama-śloka-śabdaḥ

Are whichever females exist in heaven, on earth, or underwater

Hard-to-get for him with sly, delightful laugh and eyebrow-quirk?

Who are we to one whose foot-dust Splendour awaits?

Yet only the losing side tells the Best-Praised's story

Sva-kṛta iha visṛṣṭ'āpatya-paty-anya-lokā

Vyasṛjad akṛta-cetāḥ kiṃ nu saṃdheyam asmin

Take your foot off my head! I know your clever moves

As a persuasion-expert coming with messages from Mukunda

For him, here we left our children, husbands, and others

And he indecisively left us. For what do I reunite with him?

Balim api balim attvā'veṣṭayad dhvāṅkṣavad yas

Tad alam Asita-sakhyair dustyajas tat-kathā'rthaḥ

He of a hunter's morals shot the monkey-chief as if hunting

Wife-won, he mutilated a woman who moved as she liked

After eating Bali's offering, he bound him like a pauper.

So, enough befriending Darky! His stories' point's hard to forget

Sapadi gṛha-kuṭumbaṃ dīnam utsṛjya dīnā

Bahava iha vihaṃgā bhikṣu-caryāṃ caranti

Once consuming by ear a nectar-drop of his playful pursuits

And shaking off their mating responsibilities, ruined

Those poor who instantly left their poor families at home

Subsist by beggar's routine here, like so many flying birds!

Dadṛśur asakṛd etat tan-nakha-sparśa-tīvra-

Smara-ruja upamantrin bhaṇyatām anya-vārtā

We, Kṛṣṇa's brides, believed what he said deceitfully

Like ignorant deer believing that a hunter's call is genuine

Repeatedly we saw this result, our lust-aches sharpened

By the touch of his fingernails. Close confidant! Tell another story!

Dear friend, you've come again, sent by my lover?

Choose, what may I do? I must respect you, dear!

How will you take us here to Hard-to-Leave Mate's side?

His bride Splendour is constantly with him on his chest, gentle one!

Tell, does the noble's son yet stay in Madhu's city?

Does he recall his father's house, gentle one, and brother cattlemen?

Does he occasionally yet recall incidents with us who await orders?

Might his aloe-scented arm be placed on my head sometime?

I love this song for the beautiful backdrop of Kashmir, the handsome Shashi Kapoor, and ofcourse Rafi's voice! 😳

Having to watch and listen to one's ex-lover courting a neighbour is a unique pain expressed in this Marathi baiṭhakīcī lāvaṇī set to Rāga Pilū.

Song: Kā Ho Dharilā Mazavara Rāga

Singer: Asha Bhosle

Movie: Jagācyā Pāṭhīvara (1960)

Actor: Rekha Kamat

Lyricist: Gajanan Digambar Madgulkar

Music: Sudhir Phadke

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XCxO1TrGh64

Kā ho dharilā mazavara rāga

Why have you held a grudge against me?

Śezāryācyā gharī yetā varaçevarī

Tumaçe lāḍika bola yetī kānāvarī

Āṇi zāgepaṇī yete svapnāṃnā zāga

You visit the next house over and over

Your cajoling speeches fall on my ear

And while I'm awake, my dreams wake up

Vaḷatī tumaçe ḍoḷe mājhyā khiḍakīkaḍe

Bhārī haṭṭī svabhāva, tumhī zātā puḍhe

Zātā Caitāparī mājhī phulavūna bāga

Your eyes turn towards my window

Obstinate nature prevails and you go on

Like Caitra month, making my garden flower

Zāṇe-yeṇe hote tumaçe mājhyā gharī

Tumacyā pāvalāṃnī vāṭa paḍalī parasūdārī

Vāṭataṃ phirūna yāla avacita kevhāṃtarī

Ḍoḷe nyāhāḷatī khuḷyā prītīçā māga

You used to come and go at my house

Your footprints wore a path in my back yard

I feel you'll return unexpectedly sometime

My eyes watch the route of foolish love

Arrey sir, I cannot recall any song about infidelity (I think it means cheating😒) but I finally found one song 😎

But since it was already posted and the TS wanted it edited😛, so this post is like a placeholder till I find another song about cheating 😵, they are so difficult to come by .
