I've been writing this post for a few hours just to make sure to condense my list π€. If I were to summarize it, the things that I would change about the show is essentially the last 42 episodes.
- The first 100 episodes, though not entirely perfect were beautifully written. There was a vibe, a charm, a relatableness that pulled viewers in. A simple story set in relatistic day to day issues. All the characters had depth and so much promise to showcase the highs and lows of building a joint family. After episode 100 something shifted. Key storylines were sidelined or mishandled. Social topics were mocked. Several characters sidelined when they could've been integrated. I felt the show lost it's initial charm and instead drifted into the typical saas-bahu drama.
Specific things I would change:
- The twin twist reveal. One of the storylines I was most interested to see unfold ended up being one of the most disappointing ones. The whole secret is revealed at a random point and then the fallout just falls flat. We don't see any conversations about why this decision was made, we don't get to see Vaibhav really cope with it and more importantly we never see Rahul's point of view. How beautiful it would've been to see both of these brothers work through these emotions together while finally being able to build a bond after 26 years.
- Actual character development for Mauli. Post the forgiveness being granted there was a huge opportunity for Mauli to have growth, to understand that as happy and fun a joint family can be her idealistic bubble view has holes in it that she needs to re-evaluate. She could've been just like Jyoti and have a really nice character arch but unfortunately the writers doubled down on making her the typical annoying, mahaanta, can do no wrong FL. Such a missed opportunity to create a strong FL that is more balanced and realistic π€¦π½ββοΈ
- Integrating the characters better and highlighting the growing bond of Gen 3. How amazing it would've been to see Gen 3 meet and bond with each other, and support each other - probably better than Gen 2, especially not growing up together. Gen 3 also brought a more realistic viewpoint, one that is rooted in today's society and youth. And yet, all of them were still respectful in presenting those viewpoints. We could've had so many more masti moments, so many moments of support and guidance.
- Rahul's restaurant dream. One of the early storylines that just never saw the light of day ππ. This boy has done everything for everyone and yet we couldn't get one story dedicated to his own dream. Maybe in a different timeline we'd have this but would've love to see stand on his own two feet by choice - such a big contrast to Manas.
This much effort for summarizing π€π€.
Anyways agreed with all the points u've stated. Twins have bonded quite well & we did get Rahul's reaction to it very subtly. But yeah detailing would've been good. Mauli's character development was definitely needed. Rahul's dream definitely needed to be focused too along with the bonding.
Well let's hope for a S2 soon so that we can see all of this happening.
