OMG OMG. Don't tease! This will be so awesome! I know it!
I've been wanting Aliya to reluctantly bond with Pragya for a while. The other day when they were talking and Aliya momentarily calmed down? Gah - I died. I knew Aliya wouldn't listen to Pragya ultimately but still that moment when she was just taking in what Pragya was saying? So nice. 😭 that it will take forever for the show to reach a point where these two bond, if ever.

Mina, Aaliyah wasn't much younger than Abhi/Purab. There was a flashback sequence in which all kids look within 2-4 years of age difference.
And a very much adult looking Aaliyah was once shown to be still poor, living in a modest house. Abhi has only achieved fame a few years ago.

Oh how I do so wish we could eventually have an Aaliya redemption track that featured Pragya in a guiding older sister role! Even to the super senti extent that she starts calling her Di instead of Bhabhi :P But yeah no chance of that in the show. She's already been the antagonist since her first entry, and as she grows apart from Abhi she'll become more of an out and out villain. Sigh. Another lost opportunity for complexity in storytelling...she'll just be another evil woman stereotype. πŸ˜”

Interesting! I seem to have missed these episodes. I would really really really like to see this scene of grown up Aaliya living poor. That doesn't fit with my understanding of her at all. But yeah it makes sense that Abhi's fame is recent. Rockstar popularity is fickle and all...he seems to be riding a fresh wave at the moment.

I don't think of character ages based on the appearance of actors...CVs do all kinds of crazy things, and the pool of child actors is often rather limited. So I prefer to take my cue from what is actually said or shown in the story. Obviously I've missed some important parts about Aaliya/Purab/Abhi since I didn't closely watch the first two months of the show. I've developed the sense that Aaliya is not close in age to Abhi, but that's subjective and relative I guess. Maybe the show will give us more info as we go on..but probably it will be contradictory, as timelines tend to be ever-elastic on these shows πŸ˜›

Mina, have a look at this epi, around 4 plus mins. Abhi is remembering their childhood as well as a time when they didn't have the riches in adulthood.

Abhi did anything and everything for her even when they were young.😭 I can't believe why she thought he should suffer in jail yesterday.

There was a scene in which a little Aaliyah is ziddi over icecream and Abhi does bring it for her. Likewise, I guess he wanted to bring Purab too for her. If only he knew people aren't icecreams.
And Aaliyah's dislike for middle class people, I guess it's just the sudden money/power gotten into her head case. Even Tannu was not rich or sexy dressed before, but she also has such negative attitude to "behenji" Pragya!

Abhi although pretends much around Pragya, doesn't seem to have forgotten his roots.

Oh, thank you Tia. All I see is Sarla's expression😲!!πŸ˜†
Disappointed in Aaliyah though. She definitely doesn't deserve him. I'm fine that she isn't a very nice person but to be so cruel to her own brother.😑
What are the writers doing to my favorite characters??

Renukha, you see just the image or the video? You were kidding, right about seeing just Sarla?

thank you for tracking that down tia!! if only the CVs had followed that up with a genuine, reciprocal sibling relationship!! i don't really see how college-going, cooking-book following (!!!), price-of-gift-worrying Aaliya turned into the spoiled princess we have now. would be fascinated on anyone's thoughts on that matter.

but also those scenes mostly showcase abhi's protective feelings. they don't give us much positive about aaliya. in the ice cream thing we have an early example of her unreasonable zidd (seems like no problem when it's a little girl asking for ice cream, but see how that snowballs...). in the playground one we see her depending on bhai to deal with all her hurts and to literally help her walk away from problems. and in the older ones we see her being an obedient and conscientious little sister, but in small ways - nothing to indicate that she would do as much for abhi as he does for her. well that's my take anyway. my point is...these flashbacks don't actually show an aaliya that cared for her brother. so maybe we shouldn't be surprised that she doesn't seem to care so much for him now either :(

i have another question prompted by fic development...how much freedom do we think aaliya has? can she just go whereever she pleases, whenever? if she's staying out at night, missing dinner with the family, is daadi gonna expect an explanation? is abhi gonna notice if someone doesn't point it out to him?

i mean yes aaliya is an adult, and she's very independent. but she's still a young woman living at home. and usually that means negotiating restrictions/expectations...your family will want to know where you are or you're with in general terms, or else they will worry. yes/no?

Mina, one would think blood relation does count big time especially when you have a sibling who doesn't leave any stone unturned to make you happy.
I just want Aaliyah to redeem for the sake of Abhi and Daadi.
