Hi guys, really busy I want to read all of your discussions probably tomorrow finally friday night. But I just wanted to make this new topic asking the actress playing professor is a trans woman in real life. Is it first time ITV casting someone from that community or it happened before? Please let me know if anyone knows.

But irrespective of that kudos to the makers for doing it. And her character doesn't seem so caricature too. Hoping the best.

I have so many complaints on this show but somehow only thing that is keeping me hooked is the new approach they are showing from pride march to casting trans woman. They are at least trying the best despite of knowing that TV audience might now even accept it. That's quite bold step itself.

Boond boond se hi to sagar banti hai. At least ye ek hint ban sakta h ki age koi aur log v risk le ke kuch strong content dikhane ke liye.smiley32

Bani!!!

I missed you so much yaar...smiley19

Coming to your question.. I don't know if a transperson acted in ITV before.. But The actress Navya singh is a trans woman playing a transwoman Prof. Anuradha.

I loved that they are showing that people can still lead a respectable life with a nice job no matter their gender/sexual orientation.

Yes, as you said, I am happy that.. the PH are taking some initiative to show something different.

Do you know something Uma? There's a trans woman named Manobi Bandyopadhyay who worked as a professor of Bengali and Philosophy. I was reminded of her as I saw Anuradha. I know about her because I'm Bengali. You can search about her on Google. She's the first trans woman principal of India.

I didn't know about that Shirsha...

I have seen her... maybe I saw picture in some bookstore.. can't exactly remember it..

that is good. I hope they talk about many successful trans-people when they want to convince Krishna. That might help Krishna realize that Mohan is not weird.

I like the fact that the character of professor is not a caricature. Her profession is highly respectable. And it's a bold step that they casted a trans woman in an Indian TV serial.
