There seems to be some gross ignorance in majority about small town and rural Indian TV audiences of the current age. Felt like sharing some interesting inputs about rural Indian TV audiences that I happen to read on some other forum some time back which might be helpful.. so do spend few minutes to read it till end.😊
  • Over the last decade electricity, DTH cable network, mobile network has expanded into many remote Indian regions geographically and its still on rise.
  • Also purchase indexes of various local and known brands indicate television sets, standard mobile sets and even smart phones have been on phenomenal rise in rural regions.
  • Telecast of cricket matches on TV get far better viewership in rural regions than in urban India.
  • Now a survey conducted 6 months back indicates that in 2017 total no. rural Indian women watching news channels or catching up news in general has doubly increased. 😊
  • When it comes to TV channels most free channels get far wider viewership in rural regions than paid or subscription based channels.
  • Now most free channels focus on airing re-telecasts of already finished episodes of paid channels. Eg. SonyPal airs old serials of SonyTV and ZeeAnmol airs old serials of Zee.
  • Even in paid channels category SonyTV still has far far less subscription outreach into Indian small towns and villages when compared to other hindi GEC's like Zee, SP & Colors.
  • Most importantly many rural families assemble in their homes pretty early in the evenings after a day's hard work when compared to urban families.
  • When families watch TV channels in the prime time slots especially 8pm to 10.30pm its teenagers, youngsters and men of a rural family who look forward to watch TV and relax along with women and elders.
  • Its only a MYTH that TV remote control in the evenings is with some illiterate or low IQ aunties of a rural family and they become key to determine viewership, popularity and TRPs for evening prime time TV shows. oops.. its far from reality. 😛

Now coming to weekly TRPs. You may check below links and focus mainly on reading what are those top 20 TV shows and top 10 channels watched by rural India during last two weeks. Somebody interested further may cross check once time slots in which these said top 20 shows get aired daily. (though BARC uses a limited and region restricted household samples for calculating weekly TRP's but they are the ones who are publishing industry approved data which can be analysed)😳

The point is as per the writer he has to keen in mind that he is writing for rural masses...as per him he can't write on the lines of vampire diaries since Indian audience is different. Someone push him into that very same Mauritius beach 😆😆😆 Sony shows are never meant for rural masses bcz sony doesnt has that reach in rural areas as compared to SP/Zee/Colors

And that is what I told him that Haasil is not meant for rural masses and if this will be the thinking of writers then India t.v. will remain regressive Exactly .. Sony is known to bring out experimental and different shows

I mean come on we all know that Sony is known for bold and unique concepts...I am not sure why writer said something so naive like this

And we know that Haasil is clearly not meant for house wives and rural masses...a bikini clad heroine...woman romancing his bf jnfornt of husband will seem wrong to them...when Haasil not meant for them as we all know then what is the point of keeping their taste in mind ...they are not the target audience.. why not keep the taste of those in mind who indeed are the target audience. True ... This show was from begining was never meant for them ... The approach and theme of the show is for ppl like us

Urban youth and urban masses! And I am sure we are intelligent enough to accept a strong female lead fall in love with a grey character.

Then why did the writers felt the need to restrict themselves and stick to a cliche plot where a couple has to fight a villain and where grey means negative!

Also if writer thinks that we can't accept a lead falling in love with a grey anti hero , if Indian audience will only accept a cliche concept where in a love triangle one guy has to be negative while other positive..if they think Indian audience can't accept complex characters then they are mistaken

experimental shows have worked in the past...one needs toexperiement otherwise Indian TV will be filled with regressive ,cliche content Point ... All trp top channels have same boring saas bahu drama going and its boring to watch 😕😕 + they're airing from such a long time

@ Sanya & 47AL - Haasil chodo Sony is not to be seen anywhere 😆😆 And in 2017 none of the Sony shows or for that matter Sony is anywhere in "watched channels" .. And even in 2016 it was same .. Except for reality shows like kbc/super dancer sony doesnt get trp and these reality shows just top trp in urban charts and not in rural areas 😆😆

But sach bolu toh I'm happy that inspite of no trp they dare to bring experimental/finite/new shows (though they may become worst after a point of time but they try to bring different things unlike all other top channels)

The biggest drawback is that writers have failed to understand what grey actually means!
As per Sameer Arora the writer- since in his head Ranvir is justified so he is grey...umm...tell me one thing a murderer thinks he is justified in murdering someone so will that make him grey?

Grey is where viewers get confused wheher to hate or love the guy..where they can't decide if the guy is categorically evil or not...where his actions maybe questionable but intentions can be justified by the viewers...who is neither black nor white - somewhere in between - that is Grey as per me !

Now as per Radhika the screen play writer - grey color is made by mixing lot of black and little white.
.umm we discussed this yesterday and as Sanya pointed out - Grey is made by mixing a lot of white and little black not the other way round...little white will make no difference.

Clearly writers didn't u understand what a grey character actually means !

They have ended up creating a one dimensional creepy obsessive lover character in the name of grey instead of a complex , flawed, human authentic grey character!

That is where they have failed miserably and that is precisely why the story which could have been complex has ended up becoming a cliche and predictable where a couple has to fight against the main 'villain'

Yes Ranvir is the main villain as confirmed by both the writers...As per Sameer he is the main conflict that AaBir has to overcome

Radhika has liked and retweeted tweets where people have called Ranvir the villain of the story !

Makers and writers separately forgot what they said a while ago I guess...they said that Ranvir is a grey character...In fact all 3 are grey and Ranvir is not the villain of the story...none of the 3 are villain..it is a story of 3 compex, flawed characters.

So, I guess they said all this only for the purpose of promotions and now have backtracked conveniently on what they had said before

Sigh! What a disappointment ! This show had so much potential ! All characters had so much potential!
It could have been a path breaking thriller but has turned out to be a cliche where villains have evil eagle background music !

Title of this post is absolutely spot on. Show became literally hell from the day Ranvir turned into creepy psycho lover. We wanted him as planner, plotter to get through others but strictly not murderer or psychic character. Firstly makers said Ranvir is grey character but now they r promoting him as a villain aur villain kabhi grey nahi hota, Now nothing is left as it is predictable that Ranvir is antagonist in the love story oc Aabir:(
