In a freewheeling chat with AT, television star Sangeeta Ghosh talks about her great screen rapport with her male colleagues and Bollywood dreams.
In town for a play titled Kahaani Mein Twist , television star Sangeeta Ghosh was at her amiable best. "I was contemplating doing a play for the last two years, but was very busy. The reason I did this play was because when it was offered to me, I had cut down on television and I found the play to be very simple. And the people I am working with are also very professional yet unassuming. I got a very good response for the play in Gujarat and am very happy," she informs.
She seems to like everything about Gujarat. "I have got tremendous love and hospitality from people here. Gujaratis are basically fun-loving people who love to eat, drink, and make merry. They love to live life on their own terms. And the best thing about them is that they spend quality time with their families.
Touted as one of the most successful stars in telly land, Sangeeta has been part of several TRP-topping shows, from Mehendi Tere Naam Ki, Des Mein Nikla Hoga Chand, Viraasat, Rabba Ishq Na Hove, Nach Baliye1&2 and now Doli Saja Ke Rakhna . So, is the real Sangeeta any closer to the roles she essays? "I don't know what the real Sangeeta's like. There's so much to discover. I believe I am a very positive person who loves her family and loves to work," says the fitness addict.
Quiz her about Aruna Irani's Doli Saja Ke Rakhna and rumours of a Bollywood film and she confesses, "I'll be in the show only for two months, but it's a very important role. About the film, all I can say is that it's a big film and I couldn't have asked for a better launch. An official announcement will be made in a week's time," she adds.
Her screen rapport with her male co-stars has been speculated about and she has even been romantically linked with Varun Badola and Shabbir Ahluwalia. "I have no hang ups when it comes to work. When you are very comfortable with a co-star, you are so much mentally at peace. My chemistry with Varun Badola and Shabbir Ahuwalia have been talked about. In fact, after Viraasat , people started asking me about Rohit Roy too. Aruna Irani and I also share a great rapport, why don't people talk about that?" she wonders.
Her famous love making scenes were talked about at one time. Is she comfortable doing these scenes? "I am most comfortable doing love scenes where I don't have to speak. Then I don't have to remember the lines na, yaar," she jokes. Didn't we say, she's the coolest one!
