Regret fighting with best friend Sajid Nadiadwala: Sajid Khan
PTI | December 02, 2015, 16.44 pm ISTMumbai: Filmmaker Sajid Khan says he regrets fighting with producer Sajid Nadiadwala, but is happy that they have patched up now. In 2012, the duo, who worked on the "Houseful" franchise, parted ways reportedly over creative differences.
"One regret in life is that I shouldn't have fought with my best friend Sajid Nadiadwala. I think he also regrets it. Nadiadwala and me are like soul brothers. He has also seen poverty the way I have. He is a very nice guy," Sajid said in an interview.
"We had been friends for 17 years, but for last two years we weren't friends. Now we are back. We both said, in a friendship of 17 years, enmity of two years is allowed. Even we knew that we had to come together," he said.
Sajid Khan is all set to helm the Indian adaptation of the Korean romantic-comedy-action "My Girlfriend is an Agent". The remake has been written by "Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani" writer Hussain Dalal. "It is an official remake. The original film is called 'My Girlfriend is an Agent'. It took us around nine to ten months to turn it around to 'My Boyfriend is an Agent'," Sajid said in an interview.
The 2009 Korean film chronicles the story of two spies, former lovers who are now sworn enemies, on a mission to stop a Russian crime group from stealing a chemical weapon. The "Heyy Babyy" helmer said getting good writers on board for the film was difficult as most of them are really busy.
"The biggest difficulty in film industry today is not that of getting dates, actors or finance, but writers. We don't get writers. They are like heart surgeons with whom you need to meet after fixing an appointment. You've to stratergise your life according to writers," he said.
When asked how many writers have penned the Indian adaptation, Sajid said, "I've got three writers, one is Hussain Dalal who wrote 'Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani' and '2 States'."
However, Sajid did not divulge any further details regarding the movie. After having delivered blockbusters like "Heyy Babyy" and the successful "Houseful" franchise, Sajid's last two films, 'Himmatwala" and "Humshakals" did not do well.
