Some Americans who are fans of British TV know him, most don't. It's not as if he's an American actor and therefore shoved down our throats. Most of us didn't even see Skins, and I found that program so damned bleak and unpleasant that after a few episodes it didn't seem like a place I wanted to spend my time.
Obviously he wasn't in Heroes, or Outsourced, or Big Bang Theory nor has he been in anything that's netted him an Emmy as has Archie Panjabi.
Nope, we're getting much better about casting people of South Asian origin in the states in roles other than cab drivers I just don't think he's auditioned that much in our markets tho.

He recalls:"I just couldn't make sense of it back then. I was a young kid and couldn't understand such a weird country."

WTH !! After doing a movie based on this weird country, u got that star status. Such a idiot he is.

FOR PROOF...see the image of the film 'Shark night 3D' which released last year...the actress playing beth in the film has a tattoo at the back 'BETH RAJHA MAJHA' in hindi i don't know what rajha majha means...but many american actresses love bollywood films here and confesses to be dancing like our heroines...which i find good...and where the racism is concerned it is everywhere not just for india.

Looks like Rojh Majaa to me. Meaning Beth daily fun.😆

Asian actors, he says, are seldom written into scripts except as taxi drivers or shopkeepers: "Even when I first arrived in America everyone thought I was from a slum in India. They found it weird that I had an English accent."

That shows how the American education system is absurd, they even think Arabs still ride on camels. Insane!
