Sonakshi Sinha is poised at the top of the world as her debut venture, Dabanng readies for release on the broad shoulders of the most wanted Khan. And she's not afraid of being overshadowed either, "I have put in my best and it's my debut. I am sure people will talk about me once the film releases." In the film, she plays a grounded village belle who falls in love with Salman's character, Chulbul Pandey, an inspector who is loud and short tempered. How she changes him with her love is what the movie is about.

Born and bred into an atmosphere of films and politics, the actress did not train or attend any school of acting ' it was destiny that chose her. "I was never interested in acting, it just happened at the spur of the moment. Arbaaz Khan and Salman Khan came to me with the offer and I agreed. Salman is not new to the industry. He has known my parents for a long time. Of course it all happened with my parents' permission. We had a joint discussion. It just took a little bit of coercion for them to agree," she recounts.

Salman knew the industry would eventually claim her as its own, "Salman always told me that I will become an actress one day. 'Your place is in the industry and you will ultimately land up here' were his comments whenever he saw me. Even my friends always said that I would end up acting. I preferred designing clothes, I've done a three-year course in fashion designing and even some modelling," she confides.

And with her debut not even released, she's already been offered her second film, by Arbaaz Khan, "I have signed his next film but it is yet in the scripting stages. For me it was the camaraderie and the comfort level that I shared with the Khan brothers. They have all been very gracious and given me a lot of support. I enjoyed my first movie with them, so much so that we have all become good friends now."
Her debut hero has even inspired her to grow creative wings. Pointing to a painting on the wall, Sonakshi smiles and says, "I have done that. Salman knew that I sketch for fashion designing and urged me to take up painting. I have not painted much as I have been busy but I plan to do it often now. He also urged me to lose weight. On his insistence I hit the gym and after losing weight I realised I was feeling a lot healthier. So you can guess how our friendship has grown over the movie."

Her brother Luv had a debacle with his first film, but Sonakshi is quick to support him, "He's young and has a long way to go. I'm sure he will do well in the future. The first film is not the end of your career. He's good at his job and hardworking. I'm sure he'll have good offers. With me it was different ' I got the biggest Khan to debut with. I am sure it makes a lot of difference."

Known to be a real daddy's little girl, Sonakshi speaks fondly of her siblings, twin brothers Luv and Kush, "Well, we talk on a mature level now. They are twins and have always ganged up against me as children. We used to have numerous fights. I would run to my father for support. Since I was the apple of his eye, they used to get scolded. My mother was strict with us. Otherwise we have had a very normal upbringing. My parents gave us the liberty to do what we wanted to do. I am sure my mum had to be strict or else I would have been spoilt rotten."

And for someone who comes from a family that values tradition and is rooted in culture, will Sonakshi fall prey to the industry's demands for 'glamour'? "I don't mind wearing short dresses or skirts but keeping in mind my father's political status, bikinis will be a strict no-no for me, nor am I open to kissing onscreen," she states openly.

This young 'un, with girlish charm, also has a Bollywood wishlist, "Oh, my first crush as a school girl has always been Hrithik Roshan. I watched Kaho Na Pyaar Hai over and over again. I would love to work with him of course. Otherwise my wishlist is never ending. There are so many wonderful actors and directors'" she rattles off.

I like the looks of Sonakshi based strictly on the promos. But I don't really get this whole "no to bikinis" stance that actresses take. Not to say they should wear a bikini in the whole film and just dance around in it. But honestly, what's the big deal? Don't people wear a two-piece to the pool or the beach anyway? There seems to be sort of a stigma attached to a bikini in India but it's just a swimsuit everywhere else.

^U knw what the real deal with bikinis is?? HARDWORK!! U need to work(out) ur ass off to look perfect in one. Wearing a bikini on-screen is different than in real life. Nobody, except, the ppl at the beach will judge you (who anyways dont possess hour-glass figures) But on-screen, its like the entire nation will judge you. Pleasing everyone can be difficult..especially in a bikini πŸ˜†

lol She doesn't need PC body to look good in a bikini. Which I don't think looks that great anyways. Neha Dupia doesn't have PC's body, she has curves and looks amazing in a bikini. IMO even better than PC. And Neha is no skinny girl like PC. Neha has a body type kind of like Sonaski when it comes to weight. Sonaski can look good with her own body. She has amazing curves. She doesn't need to have PC's body.

And plus all these new actress say no to bikini's in beg of their career, we all know they will wear it one day lol

Ah that makes sense. I would hate to see a flabby body being flaunted on the big screen in front of me πŸ˜†

Sonakshi has said no to bikini only coz her dad is in the Politics. If she has said so clearly in so many interviews she will obviously follow it.
