Salman's praise for Sonakshi
Sonakshi Sinha, daughter of Shatrughan and Poonam Sinha is making her big Bollywood debut under the protective wing of Salman Khan.
Sonakshi Sinha will be seen in Abhinav Kashyap's upcoming period flick Dabang produced by Arbaaz Khan. The film starring Salman Khan and Sonu Sood has already begun shoot in Wai, Maharashtra. The newbie actress who has a degree in fashion designing never thought she would be following her family's footsteps into the film industry. "I definitely have become an actor by chance. I always had the notion of acting at the back of my mind but after Salman asked me to lose some weight; I decided to give it some thought. I lost close to 10 kilos in about a year and a half and gave modelling a try." Sonakshi walked the ramp for top designers for Lakme Fashion Week last year.
When quizzed about what type of films Sonakshi sees herself doing, she replied, "I have always been attracted towards period dramas, I would love to do something my mother did in Jodhaa Akbar." And it seemed like Sonakshi hit jackpot with Dabanng. Her parents had never questioned her decision to get into acting but they wanted Sonakshi to start off her Bollywood career with a trustworthy camp. Salman has gained the trust of the Sinha's by taking Sonakshi under his wing grooming her for her big debut. "Salman is my guide and mentor; he is probably one of the nicest human beings one can ever come across. I have utmost respect and admiration for him and the same goes for Sohail and Arbaaz" says Sonakshi.
But its seems like Sonakshi has proved it to the Khans that acting is in her blood indeed. The newbie actress experienced one of the happiest moments of her life when Salman complimented her while on shoot for Dabaang, 'He called me a one-take actor. That's what they used to call my father. If I can be even 10 per cent of what he is, I'd feel I've done my parents proud' she beamed. Apart from Sonakshi, her brother's Luv and Kush will soon be seen making their Bollywood debuts with big banners as well.
