Upcoming southern remakes in Bollywood
With as many as 10 remakes in the offing and some already being made, south Indian movies will again provide fodder for Bollywood filmmakers this year.

"Okkadu" and "Kandireega" are the most recently announced southern remakes in Bollywood. In the last two years, six southern remakes - "Bodyguard", "Ready", "Singham", "Housefull 2", "Rowdy Rathore" and "Son of Sardaar" - have raked in over Rs.600 crore at the box-office, fuelling the trend.
IANS lists some upcoming southern remakes in Bollywood:
"Thuppakki": The yet-to-be-titled Hindi remake of Tamil blockbuster "Thuppakki" stars Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha in the lead. A.R. Murugadoss, who directed the original, is helming the remake as well. The film went on floors recently.
"Policegiri": Starring Sanjay Dutt and Prachi Desai, "Policegiri" is the Hindi remake of Tamil film "Saamy". Tamil director K.S. Ravi Kumar has wielded the megaphone for the remake, which also features Prakash Raj.
"Rangrezz": Priyadarshan's "Rangrezz" is a Hindi remake of Tamil hit film "Nadodigal", which has already been remade in Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada. Jackky Bhagnani and Priya Anand feature in the cast.
"Ramaiya Vasta Vaiya": It is the Hindi remake of Telugu blockbuster "Nuvvostanante Nenoddantana" starring debutant Girish Kumar and Shruti Haasan. Prabhudeva, who directed the original, is directing the Hindi version as well.
"Filmy Picture": This spoof featuring Riteish Deshmukh is the Hindi remake of Tamil comedy "Tamizh Padam", which was recently remade in Telugu as "Sudigadu". The team is yet to finalise the leading lady.
"Kick": After starring in remakes such as "Wanted", "Bodyguard" and "Ready", Salman Khan will be seen in "Kick", the Hindi remake of a Telugu film of the same name. Sajid Nadiadwala will direct the film, which will also feature Deepika Padukone.
"Shortcut Romeo": It is the Hindi remake of Tamil film "Thiruttu Payale". Neil Nitin Mukesh, Ameesha Patel and Puja Gupta feature in the film, which is being directed by Susi Ganeshan, who made the original.
"Ramana": After "Rowdy Rathore", Akshay Kumar will play the lead in yet-to-be-titled Hindi remake of Tamil film "Ramana". The director for the remake is yet to be announced. A.R. Murugadoss helmed the original in Tamil.
"Pizza": The Hindi remake rights of Tamil film "Pizza" were bought by Bejoy Nambiar recently. The cast and crew of the film are yet to be announced. The untitled film will be produced by Bejoy under his home banner Getaway Films.
