Well-known theater and film personality, Seema Azmi, better known as Rani Dispota of Chak De India, will now open her new light-hearted social play 'Aisey Kabhi Socha Nahi' on Saturday in Mumbai. The cast includes Seema herself, Chitrashi Rawat ( Chak De, Luck F.I.R, and Tu Mera Hero) and Mitali Nag ( Afsar Bitiye and Drauapadi)
Talking about the story, she says, " Everybody will relate to it although it talks about a woman's right to have a second chance, it is not feminist. What is wrong if a woman, who after having fulfilled her duties wants her share her of happiness? Why are men who do the same not called names? The USP here is my mother character talks to God. Chitrashi plays the typical younger daughter, who has issues with her mother. Mitali essays the serious elder daughter, who has her own fundas in life."
We hear you have kept the opening night free? To this, she said, "The main reason was to attract attention to our labour of love. If you charge, people get finicky about cast etc and not much is known about the show yet."
Asked as to why she penciled in Chitrashi and Mitaali for pivotal characters? She replies, "Having worked with Chitrashi before in Chak De India, I know she is a damn good actor. Till now, she has been chosen for only glamorous roles, but here, I wanted her to show her other side. You will get to see her true acting caliber. As far Mitali goes, I did not know that she was pregnant when we first met. To be honest, I was scared if she will able to deliver the goods. But I decided to support her as modern women. My only question was will you be able to do it? She also has a powerful role."
On taking TV actors, Seema quips, "The toughest challenge is for them to give up their aura and become the character. We really have to work hard with them. But I am glad that I have good artists in the form of Mitali (who was a stage actress before) and Chitrashi."
