Sonam, Alia and Varun are in the industry because of Nepotism?

Is Alia Bhatt a big name just because of her father or due to her talent?

These days Bollywood is highly obsessed with the two big words, 'Racism' and 'Nepotism'. While both are very much popular in the industry, let's talk about 'Nepotism' and keep 'Racism' at the back seat. Before discussing about 'Nepotism', let's know the meaning of it.

According to Wikipedia, "Nepotism is based on favoritism granted to relatives in various fields business, politics, entertainment, sports, religion and other activities". Another definition as per Google says, "the practice among those with power or influence of favouring relatives or friends especially by giving them jobs".

Nepotism is in many forms and shapes in Bollywood. Somewhere, it blooms up in the form of a film offered by an influential producer or production house to a star kid of their choice and leaving the other talented actors unattended. Today, everyone in the industry is giving their views and opinions on the same but is Nepotism so important an issue to be discussed? Is our industry really affected to such an extent that they can't shift their focus to something else?.

Let's take a dig on Bollywood's famous star kids and check out whether Nepotism has really helped them in shaping their careers or not.

These are some of the big names in Bollywood who may have got their first movie by Family's reputation and name but what about the hits they have given? There are some actors who have not even done a single movie from their home productions (Alia Bhatt is one of them) and yet they are doing good. Now, there have been many star kids who despite their lineage, couldn't survive in Bollywood, be it Jackky Bhagnani, Uday Chopra, Esha Deol, Shiv Darshan or Armaan Jain.

Nepotism may be the first step in the ladder to success, but it won't help an actor become a hit with the masses. It would be unfair to look at all the star kids with the lens of Nepotism.

Nepotism might have helped them get their first assignment, but their TALENT is what made them Stars!

First can I say that everyone who isn't in the movie industry is not serving fries at McDonald's, not that there's anything wrong with that. Nepotism does exist in every industry and that's just life. Get over this argument because these stars are not losing a bit of sleep over this. They are counting their money while people argue over this topic. And think about this: what parent doesn't open doors in some way or another for their children to go forward in life? If the child takes the help, works hard and progresses how is that bad? If their acting isn't good, eventually that will come to light. But Kangana's nepotism war is a waste of time and space. Rumors say she's had affairs to get ahead and she's used alleged relationships with bigger name actors to get in the news. Is that a better way?

They have zero talent. If their parents weren't stars/filmmakers then they would all be serving fries at McDonald's.

Since you cited some examples then I have some for you as well.
Nawazuddin did a cameo in Munna Bhai MBBS and worked for years to finally get recognised. If he were a son, nephew etc of a known bollywood namd then he would have it easy. He is an excellent actor but he didn't get the chance like the above mentioned star kids.
Yes, some of these star kids do have talent but that is possesed by may but do the others get the chance like these?

You forgot Abhishek..lol but I guess this is new talent... then Kareena really shouldn't be in here... Anywho... point is some can act and others cannot... it is their due to their lineage they get that chance, but they've got to strive and prove themselves or they fall off the roof...

Whoever wrote this article must hv been paid a hefty amount for giving such lame justifications. Even after getting first preferences and opportunities if these star kids don't work well then they should be ashamed of themselves. Please stop these counter arguments that their talent made them stars. Had any other non-industry person wud hv got an opportunity and he/she failed to make a mark in their first attempt then the following project they get is of sum low bgrade movie. But for star kids they keep getting chances on chances till they finally r termed as wat u call.."stars". Look at movies u hv mentioned underneath their names..its so LOLworthy..after working in like 10-15 movies all they hv to their credit is one or two hits. I wonder how come shraddha kapoor is called a "star" many telly actors deliver far better performaces than her. She is just a pretty face nd may b a gud dancer bt can't stand her acting nd dialogue delivery.

Yes i agree with that. Maybe you can get your first break bcs your mom and dad has a famous figure in film industry but its upto u to go further. Its ur hard work and talent which speak at the end. Remember this industry has give us two superstars shahrukh khan and salman khan. The one is a outsiders and latter is a starkids.

Getting equal opportunity despite not having contacts in that field of work is reverse of nepotism. Is there equal opportunity for no contact people in bollywood? Nooo, Bollywood movies do not need great acting skills nowadays. In olden times superstars became super stars because of acting skills too be it Dilip Kumar, Rajesh Khanna, Amitabh Bachchan. Nowadays acting is last thing required its good looks, dancing skills, fighting skills, horse riding skills, PR skills, sales skills, networking skills, staying in limelight skills etc that really matter more than acting for hero, heroine. Audience just chooses best of worst(skills) because they have no other options. Thats why dubbed hollywood and south(read bahubhali) movies are becoming super hits.

Most of the debuted films that these star kids had were flop movies. If any other actor or actresses have had shown such poor performances then you could be sure that would be that for them no more movies. But star kids can give as many bad movies they want but still they will get roles

It's true that they got their first break due to their parents , relatives etc but then they've to prove that they can act. Others don't even get chance there but that can't take away talent from actor's kids. Alia , Kareena karishma and ranbir kapoor are the examples. They have talent and that's why they've managed well.
