Sidharth Malhotra severely injured in a Bike Accident; Continues shooting for Shershaah

Jabariya Munda Sidharth Malhotra is all set to be playing the role of The Kargi War Hero-Captain Vikram Batra in his biopic, titled Shershaah. The action film features Kiara Advani as the female lead and the team commenced shooting last month, in August. The handsome hunk is currently shooting in Kargil for a 40 days schedule and has reportedly completed a major chunk of the scenes from the 1999 Kargil War. However, amidst all the merry, a mishap occurred on the sets of the film. Sid along with his co-star Shiv Pandit met with an accident while riding a motorcycle on the hilly terrain, resulting in hand and leg injuries. 

Fortunately, the accident shove aside from causing more trouble as the actor duo was shielded with safety gear and helmets while riding the bike. “After the shoot, Sid and Shiv (Pandit, co-star) had ventured out for a ride when Shiv lost his balance and slipped off his bike. Sid, who was right behind him, had to apply brakes due to which his bike skidded, resulting in hand and leg injuries," a close source told Mumbai Mirror.

Regardless of the injuries, Sid continued to shoot, and that deserves some appreciation for the actor. "Despite the accident, Sidharth continued to shoot on Sunday, as a crew of 150 people was already on board for a pivotal scene, for which a massive set-up was put together. It was a rest day for him on Monday”, added the source and also mentioned that the Kargil schedule wraps up in the next few days.

Further, the tabloid contacted Sidharth to ask him about his injury, and the actor informed that it will take a week for him to fully recover from the accident. “But given the schedule and scale of the film, I didn’t have the time to recover. Accidents like these happen and cause a bit of lapse in schedules, but I think it could have been much worse. Hopefully, in the next few days, I will be absolutely fine”, stated the star.

The Aiyarry actor also shared his experience of shooting in Kargil saying, “It is a completely new experience because not many films have been shot here. We have explored virgin locations as we want to be extremely authentic when it comes to the war. We have shot in the mountains similar to the ones where the battles were fought. The rocks were extremely sharp, and they can’t be controlled. So, there were safety concerns while we filmed action sequences and the team did everything to ensure we were comfortable."

Written by Sandeep Srivastava and produced by Karan Johar under his banner of Dharma Productions, the Sidharth-Kiara starrer biographical film is slated to release in 2020.
