Shweta Basu Prasad talks about her COMEBACK show!

National Award-winning actress Shweta Basu Prasad, who was caught in a prostitution racket two years ago for lack of work, is returning to the small screen with "Chandra-Nandni".

Makdee fame Shweta Basu Prasad, will soon make a comeback with Ekta Kapoor's ambitious project Chandra Nandini. The last time she made it to the news was when she was caught in a prostitution racket, two years ago.

The actress is very excited to make her comeback to television as she is of the opinion that, "it is an exciting time for actors on TV as there's more variety of characters than ever before."

"Variety in roles for actors, is a consequence of variety in shows on TV, which I do see a lot now. Today shows are plot-based and concise. The stories are different and there are seasons being introduced. I think it is an exciting time for television and TV actors," said Shweta.

Shweta has been a part of acclaimed TV shows such as Kutumb, Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii and Karishma Kaa Karishma.

This is the actress' first historical project and she has dedicated a lot of time and energy in preparing for her role as Nandini. "I will be paying attention to some of the nuances of that era and that character, with the body language of a warrior princess, which will soon require me to learn sword fighting and horse riding."

The actress has also started reading the Magadh and Mauryan history in preparation for her role.

Ask her why did she not take up television all these years she says, "I have been refraining from doing TV for at least five to six years now, as I was busy finishing my studies and working as a script consultant in Phantom Films. I never received anything on television that excited me enough.

The show, which will be aired on Star Plus from October 10, will bring forth the saga of the mighty ruler Chandragupta Maurya and his wife Nandini. Rajat Tokas and Shweta Basu Prasad will be playing the titular roles respectively.

@kritika97 dont mention about JA(rather what was it turned into which actually lead to the downfall) it gives us headache...

Jodha became Basanti to save akbar.that was such an insult to Jodha bai...a queen dancing...LOL.and that dumbest Laboni track...such tracks were the WRST sdays of JA.and thankfully Rajat Tokas didnt mind because Ekta already talked to him about Chandra nandni..so he was happy that the garbage dump was ending.

In the indian ancient and medival history it has never discovered or written that a queen tried or wished to kill her own husband. All I am saying if this is ektaa kappor's ambitious project then she should have done some historical research. Instead of showing repeat of hate to love story. I am sure instead of chankyaniti and strong king we will see nandini niti..very sad
