Sharmila Tagore reflects on her early days of motherhood, revealing her candid thoughts at a recent Mother’s Day event for YFLO. Married to late cricketer Mansoor Ali Khan, she welcomed her son, Saif Ali Khan, in 1970, but admits to feeling 'absent' during his first six years.

The 79-year-old actor reminisced, "When I had Saif, I was very busy...I was really absent... Then when I became a mother, I became an overzealous mother... I made a few mistakes, honestly."

Despite her initial challenges, Sharmila is grateful for her son's growth, crediting her husband and the support of extended family and friends.

Reflecting on her motherhood journey, Sharmila recalled reducing her work hours when she had her daughters, Soha Ali Khan and Saba Ali Khan. During an appearance on Jeena Isi Ka Naam Hai in 2012, she discussed her commitment to work during Saif's early years. In the episode, she had said when Saif was born, she was working “non-stop”. She reduced her work hours when she had her daughters. At the time of Saif’s birth, Sharmila said she was doing “two-shifts”.

On the professional front, Sharmila received acclaim for her role in the web film, Gulmohar. Meanwhile, Saif gears up for his upcoming film, Devara, alongside Jr NTR and Janhvi Kapoor, where he portrays a police officer in the Telugu-language production.
