Shama Sikander has brought to light a shocking truth about the entertainment industry: actors have been paying to secure awards at various award functions. In her candid conversation with Bollywood Bubble, she delves into the murky practices behind the scenes, highlighting how the integrity of these accolades is compromised. Shama's bold statement challenges the glamour and prestige often associated with such events, urging a much-needed conversation about authenticity in the awards landscape.
When questioned about the integrity of awards today, Shama Sikander candidly responded that many awards are indeed being sold. She emphasized that this troubling trend raises serious concerns about the authenticity and value of such accolades in the entertainment industry. Sikander's remarks shine a light on the need for transparency and honesty in award selections. She said
Buying awards in exchange for money or anything has been going on for several years. Shah Rukh Khan has publically accepted buying several awards. It was very honest and daring to say that. It happens a lot of times, if you go to any award show you will get that award. If you don’t, it gets passed on to someone else. Your presence is like a barter for the award functions. Nowadays if you see award functions they are so different

Shama highlighted on the current scenarios of the award shows by saying " Back in the day when someone would get an award, they would be looked up to with utmost respect. Why? Because in a group of nominations, they were given an award. And people would be eager to hear that person’s speech. Now it is like taking your award, clicking a picture and going away, no one cares.”
I am just boggled, there are so many functions now. And they are nothing less than a money-making business. So you just wear good clothes, go and take a picture on the red carpet, and they will get a branding that we were a host to so many A-listers. So now whenever I get a call I am like why are you even giving an award? I haven’t even worked for a year, why do you want me to take an award? They would say we want to give you an award for being a fashion icon. So I am like my fashion has nothing to do with my work.
