Rhea Chakraborty has been at the center of attention due to the controversies surrounding the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput, with whom she had a relationship and lived together. Following Rajput's tragic suicide on June 14, 2020, which occurred shortly after Rhea had moved out, she faced a tumultuous period.
One of the many challenges she encountered was her arrest on charges related to drug peddling connected to Rajput's death. However, Rhea was later granted bail. In a recent development, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) informed the Supreme Court that it would not challenge Rhea Chakraborty's bail in relation to the drugs case linked to Rajput's demise.
Additional Solicitor General S V Raju, representing the NCB, clarified that while they were not challenging the bail, they wanted to keep the legal question regarding Section 27-A of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act open for future consideration.

Following the Supreme Court's announcement, Rhea Chakraborty took to Instagram and shared a selfie with a caption expressing her gratitude.
The bench, comprising Justices A S Bopanna and M M Sundresh, stated, "Having heard the Additional Solicitor General, at this stage, the challenge to the impugned order in so far as the grant of bail may not be required. However, the question of law raised is left open to be considered in an appropriate case, and as such, the judgment may not be treated as a precedent in any other case." The Supreme Court's proceedings involved the NCB's petition against the Bombay High Court's October 2020 order granting bail to Rhea Chakraborty, who was Sushant Singh Rajput's girlfriend.
