In the aftermath of actor Sushant Singh Rajput's tragic demise on June 14, 2020, the case took a significant turn as the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) assumed control of the investigation. Subsequently, the issuance of a lookout circular (LOC) against actress Rhea Chakraborty, purportedly the late actor's rumoured girlfriend, became a focal point in the investigation.
In a recent update, Rhea has approached the Bombay High Court seeking a temporary suspension of the circular. The actress aims to travel abroad for a career-related event and is now awaiting the court's decision on December 20. The LOC was initially issued by the central probe agency back in 2020, following Sushant Singh Rajput's demise.
According to a report by The Free Press Journal, Advocate Abhinav Chandrachud, representing Rhea Chakraborty, highlighted that the CBI filed the case nearly three years ago, and the circular was issued during that period. Despite the passage of time, there have been no recent updates in the case. The CBI counsel, Shriram Shirsat, confirmed that the agency has submitted its response to Rhea's plea.
During the court proceedings, Justice Ajay Gadkari's bench questioned whether Rhea had traveled to foreign countries after the case's registration. In response, the actress's advocate affirmed her international travels. Despite being granted court permission to travel twice after receiving bail, she remained unable to do so due to the existing LOC, as noted by Abhinav Chandrachud.
The Bombay High Court's decision on Rhea Chakraborty's plea is eagerly anticipated in this ongoing legal saga.
