The dusky beauty Radhika Apte is often counted amongst one of the most talented actresses of Bollywood industry. She has constantly given mind blowing performances, not just in films but also in several Netflix web series. The actress is now all set to star opposite Moulin Rouge fame international actor, producer and director Richard Roxburgh in Apple series Shantaram.
Based on David Robert’s bestselling novel by the same name, Shantaram tells the story of Lin, a man on the run from Australian prison looking to get lost in the teeming city of Bombay. Cut off from family and friends by distance and fate, he finds a new life in slums, bars and the underworld of India.
Australian actor Roxburgh will play Detective Sergeant Marty Nightingalem who works for the Australian Federal Police and is part of a small, elite unit trained for the pursuit and capture of escaped convicts. Apte will play Kavita, a driven Indian journalist looking for answers.
Interestingly, Justin Kurzel (Assassin’s Creed) is set to direct the first two episodes of the 10-episode series. The series is expected to start production in Australia and India in October with a $5 million tax incentive from the Australian government.
