#PromoReview: Ram Kapoor as the host seems like an APT choice for Sony TV's 'Crossroads'

The mixture of fiction and non-fiction needs to be looked into..

There has been a lot of talk about Sony TV and how the channel is all set and rolling with a new line-up of shows thus bidding adieu to shows like Rishta Likhenge Hum Naya and Ek Deewaana Tha.

The first one to be going on-air is here already and it is called Zindagi Ke Crossroads, where it will be hosted by none other than Ram Kapoor. The show, as we reported will be in episodic format and the genre is fiction-cum-non-fiction. Depicting real life stories enacted by actors, the show is about how life, at times leaves you at a point, where you have to make the toughest decision of your life and both the options seem a dilemma.

The promo went live yesterday, and here's what we think-

What's It About

With intense background score, the promo opens with an elderly man lying on the hospital bed and has been so for the past 5 years. His son has been diligently taking care of his ailing father despite all the many financial problems he faces.

However, he has now reached at that point in life, where he is at crossroads of either choosing between the continuation of his father's treatment or funding his child's education. Either way, it's certainly the toughest decision to make.

The Good

The concept in itself is a novelty in how Indian TV shows come and go. Especially, when it comes to episodics, the success and genre of such shows has been as limited as it can be. With Zindagi Ke Crossroads, there is a certain intrigue factor and one that puts your brains to work immediately.

Ram Kapoor, as the host of the show is as apt a choice as there can be. And the best part from the promo that we notice, is that instead of it being just another host-talking-to-the-camera show, the set and the background audiences depicts how it may be an interactive show too. That seems like a fresh change.

The Not-So-Good

If, and as our sources suggest, the show goes on primetime slot then it may be a little too much for the viewers to soak in everyday. There is a reason you see shows like Crime Patrol and CID post 10 pm. And, if this show comes in at a primetime before 10 pm, that may not be as favourable as it seems to be.

The Verdict

With a novel concept, Ram Kapoor as the host and seemingly interactive medium, Zindagi Ke Crossroads does seem like a show to watch out for. But the treatment certainly needs to be slightly mellow, because a primetime slot for a grim presentation may be a little overwhelming for the audience to digest.
