Prabhas made history in 2017 by becoming the first South Indian actor to grace Madame Tussauds museum in Bangkok with his waxen presence. It was a moment of pride for fans as pictures of his lifelike statue went viral, capturing the hearts of many. However, in recent times, another wax rendition of the beloved actor has stirred up disappointment.
This new wax figure of Prabhas found its home in a museum located in Mysore, Karnataka. Well now it has turned into a subject of controversy, especially for the makers of the iconic Baahubali franchise.
Shobu Yarlagadda, the producer behind the epic Baahubali series, took to social media to express his discontent. In a tweet, he highlighted a significant issue. The museum had not sought permission from the creators before installing the statue, which prominently features Prabhas in his Baahubali attire. Yarlagadda minced no words as he proclaimed, "This is not an officially licensed work and was done without our permission or knowledge. We will be taking immediate steps to get this removed." His response was prompted by a fan page's post sharing a picture of the controversial wax figure.
The debate on social media X (formerly known as Twitter) was swift and passionate. Some observant users pointed out that the statue's identity as Prabhas was primarily linked to the distinctive Baahubali costume; without it, the resemblance was somewhat elusive. Yet, amidst the criticism, a group of loyal fans came forward, defending the imperfect yet cherished tribute to their favorite actor.
For those unfamiliar with the Baahubali franchise, it's a cinematic masterpiece directed by SS Rajamouli, set in the ancient kingdom of Mahishmati.
This magnum opus was brought to life simultaneously in Tamil and Telugu. The first installment, "Baahubali: The Beginning," left audiences on a cliffhanger in 2015, only to be continued with the grand conclusion in "Baahubali: The Conclusion" in 2017.
