Actor Gautam Rode, currently seen in "Saraswatichandra", says the grandness of the show doesn't put any pressure on him - he just concentrates on his performance. Also, he doesn't worry about the future, and believes in living in the present.

"To be honest, there is no pressure of the show being so big. We are professionals and this is our bread and butter. I don't think about it. I just try and concentrate to do my best," Gautam told IANS in an interview.

But the actor admits that he is "blessed" to be part of the show, which has been produced by well-known filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali.

"In the beginning, I never thought it would become so big. Now let's see the numbers we get," he said.

Will "Saraswatichandra" boost his film career?

"I have stopped thinking about how this will help me get films? I don't know what will come my way," said Gautam, who has done movies like "Annarth" and "Agyaat".

"If you start planning these things, then you are putting all your energies into the future zone and not concentrating on what you are doing now. I live in the present," he said.

Aired on Star Plus, the show is the small screen adaptation of Govardhanram Madhavaram's Gujarati novel by the same name. Earlier, in 1968 director Govind Saraiya had adapted the novel to the big screen and the film starring Nutan and Manish in the lead roles was a huge success.

There are many factors that attracted Gautam towards the show in which he is paired with Jennifer Winget.

"It was the title, the role. I had heard about it before. I have not seen the film, but my parents had, and they had liked it. Everyone around me has even read the novel or seen the film. I knew how big the character is and how well it is written. And also, Mr. Bhansali and Star Plus being the number channel got me going," he said.

Talking about the "positive response" for the few episodes that have been aired, he said: "But then no one says anything bad to your face except your parents and friends."

"If my parents don't like something, they tell me on my face. You get real feedback from them. As of now, they are positive and are liking it," he added.

Meanwhile, he is also hosting dance reality show "Nach Baliye" and said that even though it gets hectic, he enjoys it.

"It does take a lot of time. But this is the best kind of work any actor can do on TV. I am not saying it is easy. You have to adjust your time. I am compromising on sleep and workouts. For one month, it would be hectic," he said.

Both the shows are as different as chalk and cheese, he admits.

"'Nach...' is more fun... you have fun on the set. In 'Nach...', I go all out, but 'Saraswati...' is an introvert character. The two things are totally opposite," he said.

As of now, the actor is putting all his energies into making "Saraswatichandra" a success.

"Right now I just want to make this show number one," he said.
