Ernakulam (Kerala), March 18 (IANS) A district court here has dismissed a suit filed by filmmaker-scriptwriter Satheesh Paul, who claimed Kamal Haasan's "Papanasam" was a copyright violation of his novel "Oru Mazhakalathu".
"Papanasam" is the Tamil remake of Malayalam blockbuster "Drishyam".
"The second Additional District Court, Ernakulam on Tuesday dismissed a suit filed by Satheesh Paul against the producers and director Jeethu Joseph of 'Papanasam'. After hearing both the sides, the court dismissed the claims and passed an order in the favour of the makers," read a statement.
The shooting of "Papanasam", last year, was initially stalled by Satheesh Paul, who had obtained an interim injunction, but the producers managed to get the injunction vacated and contested the case.
The film is expected to hit the theatres this summer. It also stars Gauthami, Asha Sarath, Anant Mahadevan, Kalabhavan Mani and Nivedha Thomas in important roles.
"Drishyam" is all set to be remade in Hindi with Ajay Devgn and Shriya Saran.
