For the first time, two of the hottest actors in Bollywood - Varun Dhawan and John Abraham - will be sharing screen space in the upcoming film Dishoom. The movie also stars the gorgeous Jacqueline Fernandes and marks the comeback of the very versatile Akshay Khanna as the antagonist. Directed by David Dhawan's elder son, Rohit Dhawan, this is the first joint venture of the Dhawan brothers. The action-packed movie, based on a plot revolving around the rescuing of a cricketer, releases on the 29th of July, promising a wave of thrill.

After his previous successful outing in Azhar (2016), music director Pritam Chakraborty returns with a fresh set of songs that leave us completely mesmerized. He is well-known for popular party numbers like "Crazy Kiya Re", "Character Dheela" and Dishoom surely has its own share of tracks filled with energy. Lyricist Mayur Puri showcases his talent yet again, after his popular work in the dance-drama ABCD 2 (2015) accompanied by the supremely talented Kumaar. We, at BollyCurry, are excited to review the upbeat album!

Starting off with the much-anticipated dance song "Sau Tarah Ke", the track does appeal to the dancer within our hearts. The vocals by Jonita Gandhi and Amit Mishra bring out the zeal in the lyrics penned down by Kumaar and Ashish Pandit. The choir and the ney flute, played by Sahi Shamat, adds an Arabic twist to the song. The revisited version sung by Abhijeet Sawant and Aditi Singh portrays the track in a slightly different pitch and tone. Overall, it's an enjoyable piece of music with catchy beats, making it the best track of the album.

Second on the list is the title track,"'Toh Dishoom" which sets a mood that speaks directly to our inner fighter. The lyrics by Mayur Puri are simple and relatable, which enhance the impact of the song on a whole. With vocals by Shahid Mallya accompanied by Raftaar's rap, the song definitely makes its way into our playlists.

The next in the album is the item number "Janeman Aah" featuring Dhawan and the beautiful Parineeti Chopra. It starts off with a great pace and Chakraborty manages to maintain it till the very end. The guitar and percussions definitely make you want to tap your feet to the beat. Just like the other tracks on the album, the simple lyrics by Puri play a significant part in making it pleasing to the audience with full assistance by singers Aman Trikha and Antara Mitra. Given how the song's video garnered 2.5 million views in just two days (credits to Chopra's newly chiselled abs), the track is surely going to be on loop in our heads for some time. Another version with the same name, sung by Nakash Aziz does not deviate much from the original.

The album comes to a close with the track "Ishq" which is a fast romantic number, but clearly the weakest track of the album. The abrupt change in pitch and the lack of a smooth transition from one singer to another is the reason it fails to capture much attention. The chorus is not as captivating as the ones in the other tracks. All in all, the mood that the lyrics intend to bring about is not fully achieved.

Altogether, Dishoom is a decent album with a top-notch energy that remains consistent for almost all of the tracks, we do miss out on a slow and soothing number.  Chakraborty does what he is best at and Puri has spun lyrics that blend perfectly with the mood of the film. BollyCurry rates the music album of  Dishoom, a 3.5 out of 5 stars. With this, we wish Dhawan and his team all the very best as we look forward to watch the movie by the end of this month in cinemas worldwide.
