Meet Akshat Singh: The 14 YO Who Got Golden Buzzer In Britain's Got Talent

Akshat Singh, a 14-year-old kid became an overnight sensation when a video of his dance on a popular Salman Khan number on India's Got Talent became viral. After which the young powerhouse of talent went on to appear on the popular Ellen DeGeneres show. And once again, the kid has made headlines after impressing the judges with his power-packed performance in Britain’s Got Talent which airs on Colors Infinity.

Akshat performed on Deva Shree Ganesha song from Bollywood movie, Agneepath and concluded his performance with a message, 'Fat people can dance.' And even before the judges could vote for his act, the hosts Anthony McPartlin and Declan Donnelly, rushed to hit the third golden buzzer of the season.

How does it feel to receive the golden buzzer from the judges?

It’s a great experience for me to perform in Britain’s Got Talent, to groove there was a dream come true for me and to get the golden buzzer is just like a cherry on the cake. So, it was a great experience for me.

How was the journey from Dance Bangla Dance to Britain’s Got Talent?

From Dance Bangla Dance to Britain’s Got Talent, only the programs have changed, the motto is still the same that is to be happy and make others happy. 

What are the challenges that you have faced in your journey?

When I was small, I was really fat, even now I'm fat but that time when I enrolled in dance classes, people used to comment and laugh at me that how this fat guy is gonna dance. So, I just told my dad that I want to dance and from that moment I wanted to show the world that even fat people can dance. With dancing, I wanted to show everyone that nothing is impossible in life.

What is your take on people who body shame others and underestimate their potential?

I just want to say that either you are fat, slim, tall, short, black or white, it doesn’t matter. The only thing that matters is that you are doing it from the bottom of your heart. We should always follow our goals and respect our country, school, and parents.

How was the overall experience of representing India at an International platform?

I feel I’m really lucky that out of 130 Crore people, I’ve got a chance to perform in Britain’s Got Talent. It is one of the biggest platforms for me to share my talent. So, it has been a superb experience and really happy to make my country proud.

After performing in Britain’s Got Talent, what is your current objective in life?

I want to become an international kid and I want to bring all the kids from India in the global map and make my country and my parents proud.

How do you balance between your studies and your dance career?

So wherever I go, be it a hotel or airport, I carry my books with me and go through it in spare time. My dad too helps me in preparing for my exams and I’ve scored 85% in the final exams of class eight.
