Karan Johar lavishes love on Sonakshi Sinha, Zaheer Iqbal wedding; calls her a 'cool bride'

Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal tied the knot in one of the simplest of Bollywood weddings. Dressed in ivory, the couple got hitched at the balcony of Zaheer Iqbal’s residence on June 23, 2024. It was followed by a party at the Mumbai hotspot Bastian. Keeping aside religious traditions, they opted for a simple civil ceremony. The reception was attended by people from the industry like Rekha, Salman Khan, Aditi Rao Hydari, Huma Qureshi and few others. Sona kept the guest-list limited to near and dear ones. 

While Karan Johar was not invited, he spoke about the marriage of the two on his IG live. He said, “You know what I loved about Sonakshi was that she was the coolest bride. She was cool. Zaheer and Sonakshi looked lovely. They looked happy; they looked gorgeous. And there were no frills and fancies; it was just pure love and fun. And that’s what I loved about their wedding. And I loved the way she looked. So much love for her.” She wore jewels from his label Tyaani. 

There were endless rumours since it was an inter-faith marriage. Anonymous sources wrote on Bollywood platforms that Shatrughan Sinha was unhappy with the wedding. They said besides religious differences, he did not like that Zaheer Iqbal was not well established in his Bollywood career. But the veteran said that this is rubbish. He said despite his political persona, his daughter had the right to marry whosoever she wished to. Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer had been dating since seven years. They waited a bit as Shatrughan Sinha was busy with his political campaigns in West Bengal for the ruling party. He said that he is involved in the wedding leaving important political work in Delhi. Zaheer Iqbal’s father Iqbal Ratansi is a well-known businessman. He is also the childhood friend of Salman Khan.
