Bollywood's music is spread across the whole spectrum of human
emotions. One such genre is humour, without which Bollywood would not be
what it is today. The great singers, music composers and directors join
hands with some of the best comic actors of Bollywood to produce the
hilarious numbers that have continued to regale and entertain millions
over several decades. 19th March marked Laughter Day, so we at the
BollyCurry present to you the best comic songs of the 100 years that
Bollywood has seen.
Music directors Vishal and
Gulzar came up with this street song called "Goli Maar", for the movie
Satya, directed
by
Ram Gopal Varma. The lyrics are funny and make no sense. It's very
different and a must hear song to lighten up the mood.
We
still have no idea about who Pappu is and how he cropped up all of a
sudden in a song! His identity though, in the song, is of a rich man
born with a silver spoon and yes, the
saala can't dance! The song still makes everyone go
thirikiti dhana
on it's tunes with young singers like Anupama, Benny Dayal, Blazee,
Tanvi, Darshana, Satish Subramanium and Aslam contributing their vocals.
Papa Jaag Jaye Ga - Housefull
Coming from the comedy riot
Housefull,
it's time to get naughty. "Papa Jag Jaye Ga" is a hilarious situational
number that features
Boman Irani sleepwalking like a zombie with the
lead actors
Akshay Kumar and
Riteish Deshmukh trying to woo
Deepika Padukone and
Lara Dutta without
waking up Pappa. The credit of the song goes to the lyricist Amitabh
Bhattacharya, who has penned down his humorous side and has definitely
made everyone laugh!
Pyaar Ki Pungi - Agent Vinod
Next
up on the list is "Pyaar Ki Pungi" with
Mika Singh, Amitabh
Bhattacharya and Pritam going crazy. The number tends to be kept on
replay, who's video is a thorough entertainer. With his moves and
grooves all over a hotel,
Saif Ali Khan is one hell of a scene!
"My name is Anthony Gonsalves" from the ever lasting movie
Amar Akbar Anthony,
is a result of two legends -
Kishore Kumar who is the heart and soul of
this song, and
Amitabh Bachchan whose comedy timing has always been
spot on. Written by Anand Bhakshi and composed by Laxmikant Pyarelal, it
is a number that will never fade away.
The
number has always been popular, which gave
Raj Kapoor his identity in
Bollywood with his Charlie Chaplin act. The spirit
Raj Kapoor had in
this song was beyond distinction. Six decades have passed since it's
release and yet it is evergreen in many hearts. This amazing song has
been penned down by Shailendra.
Ek Chathur Naar - Padosan
"Ek chathur Naar" from
Padosan (1967)
has its vocals from
Kishore Kumar and Mannade, and great acting by
Mehmood and
Kishore Kumar again. It's hilarious lyrics are by Rajinder
Krishna. The song portrays a music competition between the main
protagonist who can't sing and hence gets his friend to sing as a proxy.
The video is a must watch!
From the movie
Pyaasa,
the song is a comic act by Johnny Walker who is acting as the Head
Masseur in this number and he sings this song to attract clients. It
contains great music, contributed by the vocals of Mohammad Rafi, and
the direction of
Guru Dutt. It's an exhilarating song and very funny
indeed. It also received a latest version from the movie
Tel Malish , which is also rib tickling!
Aati Kya Khandala - Ghulam
The song "Aati Kya Khandala" from
Ghulam
is
Aamir Khan's first venture into playback singing and it is indeed a
splendid debut! The lyrics are funny and have been used as a pick up
line by many. Khandala also became famous, thanks to this weird but
wonderful song.
Jaa Chudail - Delhi Belly
From
Delhi Belly,
the number is fun-filled with playful and amusing lyrics that manage to
make you break out into a smile or laughter. The overall drums, the
guitar,
Suraj Jagan's voice - all come together to make it a complete
comic song.
