This latest acquisition might as well be the biggest one to happen from the Toronto Film Festival (TFF). We have been constantly reporting about how the festival has resulted in some of the biggest shows being nabbed up by streamers and channels so far.

However, with the even now concluded for over two days, this one should certainly be a winner. Its HBO again and this time it has nabbed up none other than the Hugh Jackman comedy, Bad Education. The film stars Jackman in the titular role, where he plays a real-life figure Frank Tassone, the charismatic Roslyn School District superintendent who became embroiled in an epic case of fraud. Allison Janney and Ray Romano also star. Directed by Cory Finley, the Election-esque film chronicles an infamous school-larceny scandal that rocked Long Island in the early aughts.

After its recent premiere at the festival, HBO acquired the right to release the movie for a reported $20 million. HBO will release the film in 2020 in time to qualify for next year's Emmy Awards and give it a full awards campaign.

Let's see if the black comedy is received well owing to its satirical content.
