New Delhi, Jan 7 (IANS) After mixing music for more than a decade, Teenu Arora, known as DJ T-nu, is set to spread his wings in the music industry by turning composer for the forthcoming movie 'Mumbai Mast Kallandar'.
Teenu has composed all the songs for the film which is directed by Aman Mihani. Releasing Jan 14, it stars Shilpa Shukla of 'Chak De! India' fame along with Mohsin, Muzzi, Luna and Taru, among others.
Talking about the songs, Teenu said: 'The film is young, fun and urban so the basis of the songs had to be youthful, hip-hop. It has peppy beats and foot tapping music.'
Delhi-based Teenu has been spinning the discs since 1997 and has bagged several awards including the World DMC Mixing Championship in 2000. He revealed he took a break from Djing to learn music.
'I took a break in 2004 to prepare myself to get into the groove of composing music. I learnt different instruments to understand the music from the grassroot level which is not the case with Djing,' Teenu told IANS.
So, what difficulties did you have to face?
'They are just two very different worlds - the learning is different, the schooling is different. Had to start from scratch. In DJing one just needs to master the art of mixing and becomes laid back. So, I had to start learning various instruments and the difference in their sounds,' he said.
When asked about his future projects, he said: 'I am working on three films. Have also composed music for Rohit Roy's upcoming short film titled 'Hotel Park Street'.
'Other than film projects, I have given music for item girl Kashmira Shah's upcoming album, Bombay Rocker's upcoming album 'Let's Dance' and Taz's album 'Toast'.
