Chit Chat with Sangeeta Ghosh on parenting and upbringing!

The 'Parvarrish' series takes us through how families are bringing up their kids; How they are trying to mould a better human being at the initial stages of their life, which are the most important ones. The second season of 'Parvarrish' goes on air soon and we spoke to Sangeeta Ghosh about her views on Parenting, upbringing and her role in this show. Here is what she has to say-

Sangeeta plays the role of Surinder, a mother of two, who is very outgoing and free minded. We asked her whether her character will break the stereotype of typical Indian mothers on television, to which she said, "Surinder is a very liberal character. She likes to push herself to the limit physically, mentally and intellectually. I hope people accept this character and love her!"

Usually we see Television moms as very conservative characters, who are over protective for their children, trying to bind them.. to which she replied, "Parents are supposed to be protective. But they shouldn't bind their kids to anything. Kids should be given a certain freedom and be allowed to make certain decisions."

Parenting has changed over the years and is constantly evolving. We asked Sangeeta about how parenting today is any different from the parenting from 10 years back. "A lot has changed over the years. Earlier children had very few opportunities to put in their opinions and whatever the parents decided, was final. Today's kids are way more advanced! They can now voice their opinions and have a certain importance in the discussions of the family. They always have an answer ready for your questions and can even influence you to change your opinion."

Parenting comes with challenges. We asked Sangeeta about what she thinks is the biggest parenting challenge. To which she replied, "The biggest problem is lack of communication with the child. There should be a two way communication with the kids, as they have a lot of things going on in their minds. Sometimes we forget that even we were a teenager once, and lived life like we wanted to. So we should let them make the most of their life as well.

We asked her views on binding children, so that they don't go on the wrong path. "We should not keep them tied to a schedule. We have to let them free. We should guide them instead of blocking opportunities for the kids. After all, they are going to do what they like the most in their life. We should mold them for a better future instead of putting a lid over them." said Sangeeta.

All these characteristics will be reflected in Sangeeta's character Surinder, who will be seen as a lead in 'Parvarish' season two. Are you excited? Let us know. Comment below!
