Bobby Darling's divorce update: Husband QUESTIONS VALIDITY of the marriage

Actress Bobby Darling filed for divorce from husband over a year and a half ago but there wasn't any development ever since.

Now, according to reports, the husband has questioned the validity of their marriage under the Hindu Marriage Act. It has been a rather unique case where an artiste married as a woman after undergoing a sex reassignment surgery and later filed for divorce on grounds of cruelty.

According to a report in Bombay Times, Bobby Darling, born Pankaj Sharma, has sought dissolution of her marriage and also cancellation of an October 2016 gift deed of a flat in Oshiwara and Rs 2 crore in alimony, before the family court at Bandra. Last September the family court ordered that status quo be maintained as far as the properties were concerned. The case is set to revolve around how a woman' is interpreted by courts and whether a woman' under the Hindu Marriage Act (HMA) means a girl biologically by birth.

Lawyer Bhavna Jadhav filed for a divorce petition stating that both parties are Hindu and the petitioner, then a transgender and known as Bobby Darling underwent an SRS in November 2015 to become Pakhi Sharma before marrying in February 2016 in Bhopal in a Hindu ceremony.

The plea is for the ownership declaration of a property in Bhopal on the grounds that it was purchased with the petitioner's hard-earned money but is under joint names under 'pressure, misrepresentation' during an 'abusive' marriage.
