AR Rahman, Saira Banu's son Ameen reacts to speculated Mohini Dey connection; says, 'Please refrain'

Everyone got a shock when the news of AR Rahman and Saira Banu’s divorce came through. Vandana Shah and her legal team announced that his wife has filed for reasons that seem insurmountable as of now. It seems Saira Banu came to the decision with a lot of pain and agony but the differences could not be bridged as of now. A day later, his bassist Mohini Dey announced her separation from her husband, music composer Mark Hartsuch. As it is the tendency of netizens, people began to wonder if the two divorces are inter-linked. Mohini Dey has spent a lot of time with AR Rahman and she is his protégé. 

Later, the legal team of Vandana Shah said there was no connection between the two divorces. They said it was baseless to speculate in this manner. It seems the divorce was an amicable one. So far, they was no conversation about an alimony. His son AR Ameen took to Instagram and posted, “My father is a legend, not just for his incredible contributions, but for the values, respect, and love he has earned over the years. It’s disheartening to see false and baseless rumors being spread. Let us all remember the importance of truth and respect when speaking about someone’s life and legacy.” 

He also shared a clipping where lawyers denied connection between Dey and Rahman divorces. His children have posted messages on how this is a hard time for the entire family. Ameen further wrote, “Please refrain from engaging in or spreading such misinformation. Let’s honor and preserve his dignity and the incredible impact he has had on all of us.” The legal team has said it is aware of the reasons behind the divorce but they do not wish to make it public. 

AR Rahman and Saira Banu married in 1995. His mother found her for her son, who was busy with his career but knew that he wanted to marry. She had met all the specifications he wanted in a bride. Saira Banu has been one of the driving forces in his awe-inspiring journey as one of India’s music maestros. The composer also announced their split in a poetic manner saying that they could not touch the grand 30, and even the heavens weep when a great love story goes wrong.
