Amazon Studios Bags Riz Ahmed's 'Sound of Metal'

The festival of films is certainly at its peak, where Toronto Film Festival has revealed some of the much-awaited films which in turn out to be potential candidates for studios to bag rights for a theatrical release. Several films have already found home and the latest to join the bandwagon is Riz Ahmed starrer, Sound of Metal.

The film is directed by debutant Darius Marder and stars Riz Ahmed int he titular role. Ahmed plays a heavy metal drummer whose life goes into freefall when he faces the first signs of hearing loss. Paul Raci, Lauren Ridloff and Mathieu Amalric are also in the ensemble cast for Sound of Metal, which will have a theatrical release before streaming on the Amazon Prime service.

Sound of Metal comes from the producers of The Rider. Marder was a co-writer of The Place Beyond the Pines.

Marder co-wrote the screenplay for Sound of Metal with Abraham Marder. The film is produced by Bert Hamelinck and Sacha Ben Harroche, alongside Kathy Benz and Bill Benz.
