8 Television channels and the shows that made them popular.

Television Shows are the only reason why people get hooked on to certain channels. Although there were a few channels who got a loyal set of viewers. Here are a few shows that are responsible for making the channels popular!

1. Star Plus.

Star plus was launched in the year 1992. This channel gained popularity after shows like Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi and Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki. Other shows like Kasauti Zindagi Ki gave the channel a larger chunk of the total audience. The channel also attracted a large number of children due to show like Shakalaka Boom Boom.

2. Colors.

In 2008 colors started as a part of Viacom 18. The channel offered a variety of shows but the main reason why this channel became popular was that the channel broadcasted a series of shows targeting the social problems prevailing in India. Shows like Balika Vadhu and Na Aana Is Des Laado that gave an insight into child marriage and Female child killings became major hits. Apart from these, reality shows like Bigg-Boss and India's Got Talent gained popularity. And the finite series from 2013 called 24' took the ratings of this channel to new heights!

Zee TV.

Zee TV was launched in the year 1992. Before the entry of this channel, the audience had no option but to watch what was presented by the only public broadcaster (Doordarshan). Zee TV brought in shows like Amanat, Hasratein, Astitva...Ek Prem Kahani and Koshish-Ek Aashaa. Zee TV also introduced the singing reality show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa' thanks to which the industry has a number of talented singers!

Sony.

Sony entertainment network is one of the biggest television broadcasters in the country. All this started with Sony TV. This had channel put out amazing shows like Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahi and Dekh Bhai Dekh. Sony is also the home to one of the most popular dance reality show Boogie Woogie. But the show that took Sony to greater heights was Kaun Banega Crorepati! This show had millions of Amitabh Bachchan Fans glued to Sony!

SAB TV.

Sab TV broadcasting in the year 2000 as a part of the Sony entertainment network. This channel has been home to some of the greatest family entertainment shows over the years. Although shows like Lapataganj, F.I.R., and Office Office. Sab TV now gets most of its viewers because of the successfully running show Tarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma.'

Life OK.

This channel made history by obtaining the highest TRP among all channels in the previous year. Its successful mythological drama Devon Ke Dev...Mahadev recorded an 8.2 TVR, pushing the channel to recorded its highest ever GRP of 167! Savdhaan India is another show that is loved by the audience.

7. Star One.

Star One was the most popular channel in all schools and colleges! Because of its shows being youth oriented all teenagers and young adults loved watching this channel. Dill Mill Gayye, Remix, Sarabhai vs Sarabhai, Instant Khichdi, the list goes on! This channel put out some of the greatest shows on TV!

Doordarshan.

This may seem a little bit funny, but it is a fact that at a point of time, that's all we watched! And the most popular and entertaining show apart from the news were Mahabharat and Shaktimaan! The number of life lessons Shaktimaan has taught us are countless!
