Jackie Shroff moves Delhi High Court against multiple parties using his name, 'Bhidu' voice without consent

Jackie Shroff has taken legal action to safeguard his name and image rights, filing a lawsuit at the Delhi High Court against multiple parties for unauthorized use of his identity. The lawsuit, brought forth by Shroff's lawyer Advocate Pravin Anand, asserts that entities have been exploiting Shroff's name, likeness, his often used term 'Bhidu' and voice without his consent.

Today, Justice Sanjeev Narula heard the case and issued a summons to the defendants named in the suit. The court is scheduled to reconvene tomorrow to consider issuing a temporary order. Anand emphasized the importance of consent in utilizing someone's personality rights, citing previous legal precedents involving actors like Anil Kapoor and Amitabh Bachchan.

One of the defendants operated a restaurant named "Bhidu," a trademark associated with Shroff. Despite warnings, some defendants continued to use Shroff's images and voice without authorization, prompting Anand to advocate for legal action against them. He highlighted instances where Shroff's images were used on various merchandise without permission, including T-shirts and posters.

Jackie Shroff's recent cinematic venture, "Mast Mein Rehna Ka," alongside Neena Gupta, premiered on Amazon Prime Video in December 2023. Looking ahead, the veteran actor is slated to appear in Rohit Shetty's "Singham Again," marking his continued presence in the film industry.

As the case unfolds in court, Shroff's determination to protect his identity and fame serves as a reminder of the importance of respecting individuals' rights. With his legal action, Shroff aims to uphold established principles and ensure that his name and image are used appropriately and with consent.
