Love at first sight 

“I’m ever so proud of you” says George from under his half moon glasses whilst Mrs Green fixes his bow tie.

“Thank you” replies Mary looking up at George’s endearing eyes. The pride she saw  In them did wonders for the butterflies in her stomach. 

“ I knew you could do it” he smiles referring to tonight’s event. The book launch.

…

“Good Evening Mrs Bajaj” says Rishabh as he circles his arm around Prernas waist and dips his face into her neck whilst she tidies the  appetisers on the kitchen counter. She wanted everything to be perfect for George and his wife this evening. Mr Bajajs aftershave was rather distracting and she didn’t want it to spread to the food!

 Guests were mingling, drinking wine whilst he  crept away to get a glimpse of her.

“Aap ko bahar hona chahiyey, with the guests”

“Hmm but I’d rather be here” he whispered sweet nothings which she pushed away making disapproving eyes, reminding him that his brother was also in the room. 

Yes a hungry and jet lagged Mahesh tucked in a tasty looking sandwiches Prerna had put together for him at the dinning table in the kitchen.

“Bro congrats on the book!” Chomped  Mahesh with a mouth full of food.

“Thank you” replies Rishabh from beside Prerna later walking towards his brother

“Safe flight?” He asks putting his hand over Mahesh’s shoulder.

“Uer huh” says mahesh  “Good luck out there with all the fan girls he teases as his brother heads off. Rishabh takes no notice but Prerna’s glaring eyes cut right through his brother in law who puts on a innocent face.

Rishabh knew he inspired young business minds but he never imagined people would to read about him and his life. As a matter of fact he never imagined he’d ever share himself like this with others.  Both Rishabh and Mary sat next to one and other in respective arm chairs, Rishabh obviously in his own chair to autograph books. People queued first to have the book signed by Mrs Green and then him. 

Two or three autographs in and Rishabh saw two little hands carry his book.

“Sign please” asks Kuki with Sneha stood beside her trying to tip toe as much as possible. Both looking adorable in their Pjs.

Rishabh raises an eyebrow at first, later smiling. How could he not. Taking the book he opens it up and begins to scribble on the first blank page.  ‘Love…Pa, he starts with but seeing Sneha make a face of he also adds  ‘Da.’
 ‘Love Pa, Da.’ He signs the book handing it back to Kuki and running his hand through Snehas curly locks. He hoped this book if anything would help his loved ones understand him better.

“Don’t let your mother see you will you” he adds.

“We won’t” reassures Kuki

“Off you go get some sleep” he says in a fatherly tone and the girls agree. off they trundle with the intention of seeing all the pictures in the book before nodding off to sleep only Sneha turns back for a moment.

“Da ..a?”

“Yes love” replies Rishabh 

“Where di u go ?” She asks having missed him yesterday when all she could see was some stranger that wasn’t father.

“Oh not far” replies Rishabh as ever surprised by the workings of his little girls mind.

…

Wine and Nibbles, book signings and time to mingle followed by an audience with Rishabh and Mrs Green. An opportunity for critics and enthusiasts a like asks questions. A lot of the questions were for for Mrs Green. Mary basked in the love people were giving her and the Bajaj’s and of course George watched proud. 

“There’s a chapter in your book named love at first sight.” 

Was it really love at first sight? Asked a lady in the audience. A question for Mr Bajaj. 

“Every time..” answered Rishabh

“Who were you referring to in this chapter?” Asked the lady.

Whilst Rishabh had a way with words for any question let alone this one Mahesh noticed Prerna walk away into the kitchen on the pretence of something or other.

A few mins later Mahesh found Prerna trying to look busy in the kitchen when he walked in.

to make it less awkward  for her he asks for a drink.

“Do you have Soda?”

Prerna nods, reaching into the fridge.

taking a seat at the kitchen counter, Mahesh gives her silent company. 

Some how somewhere Prerna knew her brother in laws intentions.

“Did you read the book yet?” He asks 

“Not yet” answers Prerna

“So  how do you know you’re not his love at first sight?

Prerna who is astonished at how well Mahesh could read her  gives in.

“I just know” she replies a little disheartened.

Have you read the book? Asks Prerna.

“No” replies Mahesh.
