Suits you

Prerna walks past Rishabh sat in the balcony under the stars in front of picture of his mother. She’d  noticed him do that more often these days and when she asked him if he was okay he would say yes but his eyes would take a little longer to catch up to his words.

Prerna left him it leaving their room to fill the water jug for the night but the thought of Mr Bajaj missing his mother just lingered in the back of her mind.

As she entered the kitchen she saw George putting his jacket on to leave for the night. If there was someone who had a sensible answer to help her ever it was George.

“Well everyone looks up to someone to look up Mrs Bajaj & he has to get his wisdom from somewhere with all of us looking to him.” When George put it that way it seemed very logical

Maybe you’re right George.

But he misses her I see that and I wish I could help. Explained Prerna as George buttoned up his coat.

“I’m not sure you can Mrs Bajaj

But a mother could  I mean someone  like your mum Mrs Sharma.”

A honest truth with a solution that was George was wonderful at.

“Ma ..” though Prerna as she realised it wasn’t her place and lucky her mother was around.

Thank you George aniket Prerna and George smiled back

Drive safe - she smiled

“I will, good night Mrs Bajaj said George leaving her to her evening.”

The next morning at the breakfast table Rishabh looked up from his newspaper at his girls hoping they’d help him choose his new suit.

“Sorry Pa I’ve got to bake” said kuki with a month full of chocolate cereal.

When Rishabh looked over at Sneha in her high chair “Sleepy” said Sneha telling him she had other plans and Mrs Bajaj had a conference call to make.

“Sorry Mr Bajaj Magar ma he na” she suggested.

Veena smiled it was a first ever ask if it’s kind but she didn’t mind.

As per every time Rishabhs tailor an old gentleman with glasses a bow tie and English accent suggested the finest new materials, & colours.

The lounge was off limits to all during this time

Rishabh tried on a range of different blazers in front of a mirror each slightly different.

The first few Veena didn’t think much of neither did Rishabh. There was a  cream

tweed, a grey and burgundy.

“Hmm Nahin” said Veena

“ yeh bhi nahin” she said to a second

“Doesn’t go with your  eyes!” She said to a third which made Rishabh smile.

Then came the perfect suit. A  royal blue, rich deep blue that complimented Rishabh in every way.

As he turned from the mirror to his mother in law tucking one of his hands into his trouser pocket as he did Veena smiled.

“Very nice”

Rishabh approved too, looking down at the details he agreed this one felt just right.

“Thank you” he said with comfortable eyes.

“Ma” added veena suggesting he ought to call her ma.

“aap hame ma bulayey” ( call me ma)

For a split second Rishabh went quite for a moment. Veena could understand why

“Ma” he said his eyes innocent when he did put the two syllables together. Veena smiled back at Rishabh. This meant a lot to him it really did.

On the other hand  Prerna who had been working that little extra in Mr Mehras absence these days was walking through the lounge with some paperwork to hand.

“What do you think Mrs Bajaj” asked Rishabh catching Prerna in her tracks

A little engrossed in office related matters when Prerna lifted her eyes she saw Mr Bajaj her heart was in her mouth.

He looked incredibly handsome not to mention he reminded her of the first time she’d properly looked upon him as her husband to be. Stood at that balcony of Bajaj house welcoming her into his home. That moment and this one gave her goosebumps.

“Ji, It’s nice” she said avoid staying with his eyes for too long.

“Sharmagayi Pagal” laughed Veena as Prerna walked off briskly & Mr Bajaj looked on wondering if Veena was indeed right. Moments like this were a win for his pride

Elsewhere Prerna Shuts the room to the study and turns her back to lean against the door. Phew! She closes her eyes cursing her self for being so hopelessly perishable with moments like this. Why oh why did he make her go weak at the knees like this.

Opening her eyes once her heart stopped beating so fast her eyes played their own game. She  could hear Mrs Bajajs voice within “What do you think Mrs Bajaj ?”

“Welcome home Miss Sharma” replaying the most luring moments  with her husband.

And then thankfully so came a conference call.

Mahesh calling read Prernas laptop and she took it as her call to stop being such a unruly teenage heart and get back on track.

She took a breath and walked to the desk, took a seat and answered the call.

Mahesh on his side of the world from his home office appeared on screen.

“Found the file? And Why are you blushing?”

Asked Mahesh having noticed prernas fluster.

“I’m not”

“I can see you are”

“I’m not”

“Mahesh raised a eye brow, “ If you say so but it suits you!” He teased
