Samantha Ruth Prabhu repurposes her wedding gown while advocating importance of sustainability

Samantha Ruth Prabhu, the stunning actress, recently caught everyone's attention at the Elle Sustainability Awards with her elegant attire. What surprised many was that the gorgeous gown she wore was none other than the same one she adorned for her fairy-tale wedding to Naga Chaitanya back in 2017.

Designer Kresha Bajaj, who crafted Samantha's wedding gown, shared insights on Instagram about repurposing the gown for the awards night. Through a reel, she showcased the meticulous process of hand-sewing floral and crystal detailing onto the gown after dyeing it black and altering its silhouette. While some initially didn't recognize the gown's origin, many soon realized it was Samantha's iconic wedding attire given a new lease of life.

Acknowledging the importance of sustainability, Samantha expressed her views on repurposing her gown for the event. She emphasized the necessity of sustainable practices for the well-being of our planet and shared her conscious efforts to adopt a more eco-friendly lifestyle. Through her actions, Samantha encourages others to take small steps towards sustainability, believing that every effort, no matter how small, contributes to a bigger positive impact.

In her Instagram post, Samatha wrote, "While that might sound insignificant… entitled even… to many… I assure you that repurposing my old clothes is only one of many steps I am consciously taking to alter my habits and make my lifestyle more sustainable. And every little gesture, every little decisive action, is important. It all adds up. I urge myself and all of you that have goodwill for me in your hearts to make those little efforts. Thank you."

Aside from her advocacy for sustainability, Samantha is gearing up for her upcoming project, Raj & DK’s web series "Citadel: Honey Bunny," where she stars alongside Varun Dhawan. The series, an Indian adaptation of the US show "Citadel," promises an exciting new venture for Samantha, further solidifying her position as a versatile actress in the entertainment industry.
