The glitzy premiere of the much-anticipated series, "Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar," unfolded in grandeur last night, drawing a constellation of celebrities from the film fraternity to applaud Sanjay Leela Bhansali's foray into the realm of OTT platforms.
According to a report from Pinkvilla, it was unveiled that actress Richa Chadha, essaying the role of Lajjo in the series, received effusive accolades from veteran actress Rekha following the screening. Richa, profoundly moved by the heartfelt encounter, shared her sentiments about the touching moment.
Rekha, evidently impressed by Richa's portrayal, showered her with praise and affection. Talking about the same Richa said, “Her kind words and affection towards my performance in Heeramandi left me speechless and deeply touched. I will never forget this night and her blessings really. This is encouragement for me to continue striving for excellence in my craft.”
Reflecting on the profound moment, Richa conveyed, "Receiving praises and love from someone as revered as Rekha ji is a moment I will cherish forever. I couldn't have asked for bigger validation, my heart is full."
Delving into her inspiration for the character Lajjo, Richa divulged, "There's a song in the series, which is my solo mujra. For that, I referenced her song from Umrao Jaan, 'Ye kya jagah hai doston.' She has been my inspiration, my hero, and she’s the definition of what an icon is."
Richa further recounted, "She gave me the tightest hug and that was truly something that left me overwhelmed."
Featuring a stellar cast including Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Sanjeeda Sheikh, and others, the series helmed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali is set to grace Netflix screens on May 1, promising a captivating cinematic experience.
